Through a blend of academic and vocational instruction, applied learning, and worksite experience, our students acquire the career skills and academic knowledge to ensure success in their chosen career and post-secondary education</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>74 Massachusetts DESE license in Electrical </li></ul> <p>Alternative:</p> <p>Possess the following minimum requirements to obtain license:</p> <p>High School diploma or the equivalent.</p> <p>Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to Electrical</p> <p>Passing score of at least 70% on each test (written test performance test) in Electrical, Usually within your first school year.</p> <p>One of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test. </li><li>Achieve a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills Test. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan organize and provide appropriate learning experiences within assigned area of responsibilities. </li><li>Teach technical skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field. </li><li>Develop lesson plans and organize class time so that demonstration, instruction, hand-on practice, review and final activities can be accomplished within the allotted time. </li><li>Continuously improves the instruction, curriculum, and equipment so the CTVE area is current with all trends in the field is fully and properly preparing students for available and emerging jobs. </li><li>Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the student's maturity and interests of the students. </li><li>Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. </li><li>Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objective for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students. </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy regulation. </li><li>Strives to maintain and improve professional competence especially as relates to the specific assignment and students grade and subject area appropriateness. </li><li>Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with others. </li><li>Establishes and maintains open line of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both broad academic/vocational and behavioral progress of the assigned students. </li><li>Per the Somerville Educators Union, Unit A, collective bargaining agreement </li><li>Other duties deemed necessary by the Superintendent/Director or designee. </li></ul> <p>Position Reports to: Principal of Somerville High School and Center for Vocational and Technical Education.</p> <p>The Somerville Public School does not discriminate in its programs, facilities or employment of educational opportunities on the bases of race, color, age, religion, disability, preganancy, home status, martital/civil union status, sex/gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, citizenship status, place of birth, national origin, ancestry, cultural identity, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' group or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p>
