<p>Description</p> <p>Springfield College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in the Physical Education and Health Education Department for the Fall 2025 semester (9/2/2025-12/18/2025). Potential courses available include Sports Nutrition, and Concepts of Personal Training. Both are 3-credit courses and will be taught in-person/Face-to-Face as part of theExercise Science Program.</p> <ul> <li>Compensation for adjunct faculty with fewer than 3 years college teaching experience is $2820 for a 3-credit course </li><li>Compensation for adjunct faculty with 3 or more years college teaching experience is $3513 for a 3-credit course. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>AEXS 480: Concepts of Personal Training (Undergraduate)</p> <p>Date/Time: Tuesday and Thursday 8:00-9:15am</p> <p>Course Description: This course offers a comprehensive exploration of the fundamental principles and practical strategies necessary to build a successful personal training career. Students will learn how to effectively assess client needs, design personalized training programs, and build meaningful client relationships. Key areas of study include client motivation, effective program design, ethical practices, and strategies for marketing and client retention. This course will assist those students who desire to sit for the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Exam. However, this course is NOTa preparation class of the CPT exam.</p> <p>AEXS 540: Sports Nutrition (Undergraduate/Graduate)</p> <p>Date/Time: Monday 7:00-9:30pm</p> <p>Course Description: This course focuses on the relationship between nutritional practices and human physical performance. Topics covered include the role of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water on overall performance. In addition, factors affecting body composition and weight control are covered. The course focuses on evidence-based approaches to nutrition, exercise, and performance for athletes of various levels and sports.</p> <p>AEXS 613: Exercise for Special Populations (Graduate)</p> <p>Date/Time: Tuesday and Thursday 9:25-10:40am</p> <p>Course Description:This course provides an advanced-level overview of the principles and practice of exercise testing and prescription in select special populations, including those with chronic diseases, disabilities, and other unique conditions. The focus of the course is on exercise considerations for non-cardiac conditions. Students will learn to assess individual capabilities, apply evidence-based principles, and adapt exercise prescriptions to promote health, function, and quality of life for special populations.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree required for undergraduate and graduate courses with PhD preferred for graduate courses.</p> <p>This position has been designed as forward facing and will meet face-to-face on the Springfield, MA campus.</p>
