<p>Reports to: Associate Director/Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct</p> <p>Supervises: Student Prefects (5 to 10)</p> <p>Primary function: The Residence Hall Director serves as the chief administrator within a co-educational upper-class residence hall housing 150 to 225 students. He or she is charged with setting a tone in the residence hall consistent with the mission and policies of the College centered on students' academic, spiritual, and personal development.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree, Preference given to candidates currently enrolled in a graduate program.</p> <p>Experience: Previous paraprofessional or professional experience in residence life.</p> <p>Essential duties:</p> <ul> <li>Promote the Catholic, Benedictine mission of the College and serve as a role model of the values of our institution. </li><li>Responsible for the overall management of the educational, spiritual, and operational functions of assigned residence hall. </li><li>Develop and execute long and short-term building goals aimed at optimizing student engagement and living experience. </li><li>Uphold and articulate College policies and protocol relating to student conduct and housing. </li><li>Provide on-going training and daily supervision of staff members; participate in yearly recruitment and hiring initiatives. </li><li>Adjudicate assigned violations of College policy and monitor the completion of student conduct sanctions. </li><li>Encourage and monitor the completion of educational, spiritual, and social activities within the residence hall conducive to the College's Catholic, Benedictine mission. </li><li>Respond to all emergencies in and outside of the regular workday and be available for consultation with staff members handling challenging situations. </li><li>Maintain adequate visibility within the residence hall. </li><li>Complete administrative tasks related to hall management and the department; file written reports on a consistent basis and attend all assigned meetings. </li><li>Manage the opening and closing of assigned residence hall at the beginning and end of each semester and for all breaks. </li><li>Participate in various residence life functions such as housing selection process, orientation, open houses, etc. </li><li>Participate in committee work for the department, division and/or College as deemed appropriate by the Dean of Students or Vice President for Student Affairs. </li><li>Provide weekly office coverage in the Residence Life Office working on operational tasks and assisting students, parents, and visitors. </li></ul> <p>Special challenges and environment: This is a live-in position with a flexible 20 hour work schedule that includes additional evening and weekend obligations consistent with the academic calendar and student lifestyle, must be available in and outside of normal working hours for consultations and emergencies; regular walking and stairs are required.</p> <p>All positions require the incumbent to be able to fully embrace the unique mission and identity of the College as a Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts and sciences institution.
