These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Leahy Elementary School is seeking an ESL teacher responsible for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) in core subjects, with the possibility of providing pull-out services as necessary. The ESL teacher holds primary responsibility for designing and implementing direct ESL instruction to help students access grade-level curriculum, and for collaborating with teachers to provide English language support in other content areas.</p> <p>The ideal candidate believes that all students are capable of learning and thrives in a collaborative environment with a strong grade-level team. Experience with co-teaching, inclusion practices, and collaborative planning is recommended.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Administer diagnostic and state-mandated assessments for English Language Learners </li><li>Evaluate, set goals, and track progress for individual ELLs; communicate results with students, faculty, and families </li><li>Maintain ELL records in accordance with DESE standards </li><li>Provide direct ESL instruction to small groups and/or inclusion support within general education classes </li><li>Support ELL students in accessing grade-level curriculum and building ELA skills </li><li>Incorporate technology-enhanced learning tools to support English language acquisition </li><li>Advise teachers on curriculum modifications/accommodations for ELLs and share best practices for sheltered content instruction </li><li>Participate in Panther P.R.I.D.E. school-wide positive behavior protocols </li><li>Engage in grade-level and content vertical planning meetings </li><li>Attend student support and team meetings </li><li>Participate in curriculum nights, report card nights, and other building-wide meetings </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of second language acquisition and best practices in ESL instruction </li><li>Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies </li><li>Ability to modify curriculum and provide language scaffolds </li><li>Effective collaboration and co-teaching experience </li><li>Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues </li><li>Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices </li><li>Data-driven instruction and progress monitoring </li><li>Use of technology in language instruction </li><li>Understanding of Massachusetts DESE ELL guidelines and compliance </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred </li><li>Valid Massachusetts teaching license in ESL (PreK-6) </li><li>SEI Endorsement </li><li>Prior experience working with English Language Learners in an urban setting preferred </li><li>Experience with inclusive practices and co-teaching models </li><li>Bilingual skills preferred but not required </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
