<p>College Laboratory Technician - School of Music</p> <p>GENERAL DUTIES</p> <p>Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.</p> <ul> <li>Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories </li><li>Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials </li><li>Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards </li><li>Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities </li><li>Manages equipment and materials inventories. </li></ul> <p>CONTRACT TITLE</p> <p>College Laboratory Technician</p> <p>FLSA</p> <p>Non-exempt</p> <p>CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION</p> <p>Located in Flushing, Queens, Queens College is one of eleven senior colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). Visit us at https://www.qc.cuny.edu/.</p> <p>The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College offers a curriculum in classical conservatory training. Reporting to the Chair of the Music Department, the College Laboratory Technicians (CLT) will provide technical support for our undergraduate and graduate programs. This support will include managing and staffing our many performance activities but also maintaining classroom A/V systems and physical resources like desks. Support will also be needed for our music production program, including managing software and other recording technology resources. The CLT, in collaboration with other departmental stakeholders, will determine materials, equipment, supplies, etc. that will be allocated and assigned to support courses, sections and faculty research; will designate appropriate protocols to be followed; and will assign projects. Work hours may include early mornings or evenings and occasional weekends.</p> <p>Primary responsibilities include:</p> <p>Oversee concert production/large ensemble activities</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate on concert, event, and recital scheduling </li><li>Oversee on-site production of events. Assign staff to department events </li><li>Work department events </li><li>Coordinate rooms for rehearsals </li><li>Maintain YouTube Channel </li><li>Manage live streaming of concert events </li><li>Maintain QR code for concert programs </li><li>Assist recording engineer with digital archive of recorded events </li><li>Staff and manage rental events </li></ul> <p>Maintain Facilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and/or collaborate with college departments to maintain concert event space streaming systems; classroom A/V systems; classroom computers; lighting; physical infrastructure; lockers (in coordination with office staff); instrument inventory (in coordination with music ed, arch manager, office staff, repair techs) </li></ul> <p>Manage Recording Studio</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with Music Production coordinator to identify recording studio needs </li><li>Maintain recording studios </li><li>Maintain Rm 225H and ProTools installation/troubleshooting </li><li>Work with Music Production instructors/provide equipment for classes </li><li>Work with Music Production coordinator to help implement any upgrades or maintenance </li></ul> <p>Handle Purchasing</p> <ul> <li>Identify needed purchases, including tools, supplies, microphones, theatrical lighting, etc. </li><li>Secure quotes and work with office staff to obtain materials </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience</p> <p>OTHER QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Preferred qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred but not required </li><li>2 years of experience working in stage production/management </li><li>Demonstrated capacity to research, maintain, and expand the functionality of the classroom and recording technology equipment </li><li>Proven ability to work in a team environment focused on service to an educational community. </li><li>Evidence of strong administrative, interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION</p> <p>$56,484 - $60,829</p> <p>BENEFITS</p> <p>CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.</p> <p>CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases.
