<p>Position Summary</p> <p>DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Student Conduct & Staff Development supports the administration of the College's student conduct system and contributes to the overall operation of the residential education program. This position assists with the implementation of residential initiatives including housing operations, student and professional staff selection and training, community standards education, and departmental processes and communications.</p> <p>Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the Assistant Director provides functional oversight and guidance to live-in professional staff and student paraprofessional staff related to conduct processes, community standards, and staff development. The Assistant Director also works in close collaboration with the AVP of Student Life and Success regarding student conduct case management, including case review, educational interventions, and appeals support. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with Residence Life staff and campus partners across Student Life and Success and Academic Affairs to promote student accountability, community development, and educational interventions that support student success and personal growth. In partnership with the Director of Residence Life and the AVP of Student Life and Success, the Assistant Director contributes to the development of residential communities through training, mentoring, programming, and staff support.</p> <p>This is a full-time, twelve-month, live-on position that will involve "leadership on call" responsibilities. In order to facilitate interaction with residents and staff, a meal plan is provided to the Assistant Director of Residence Life when classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters.</p> <p>OUTCOME:</p> <ul> <li>Assure effective coordination and supervision of student conduct system and residence life initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Student Conduct Administration 65%</p> <ul> <li>Administer and support the implementation of the College student conduct process, including student education on the Code of Conduct, college regulations, and campus policies. </li><li>Administer and coordinate student conduct processes in a timely manner which includes: intake of campus incident reports, notification to students and parties involved in student conduct proceedings; and the conducting of conduct hearings, appeals, post-hearing follow up, and correspondence. </li><li>Responsible for staying up-to-date on relevant student conduct trends and best practices, college life legal trends; and contact with local municipalities on student misconduct and off-campus neighborhood concerns. </li><li>Coordinate and implement the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of student conduct hearing boards, advisors, and relevant residence life and student life staff. </li><li>Provide coordination, training, and guidance to College administrators, including Residence Life professional staff, serving as student conduct hearing officers. </li><li>Provide administrative support to the Title IX Office in coordinating logistics related to Title IX hearings, as appropriate. </li><li>Responsible for coordinating, with the Director of Residence Life and AVP of Student Life and Success, the management and supervision of student conduct, including the disciplinary appeal process. </li><li>Work with the Department of Campus Safety and respond to concerns related to student conduct. </li><li>Develop assessment instruments for student conduct and assist with data collection and reporting for annual reports, and as needed. </li><li>Answer inquiries and provide appropriate information and support to all constituencies on student conduct and residence life programs. </li><li>Record and publish annual student conduct statistics and outcomes as required by Student Life and Success, Campus Safety and relevant local, state, and federal agencies. </li><li>Provide reports for Clery Act and DAAPP annually to ensure compliance. </li><li>Establish an atmosphere of community and civility through interaction with students. </li><li>Work with assigned summer projects and publications related to residence life, campus housing, student life, and special college programs. </li><li>Support and assist with the overall work and operations of the Office of Residence Life and Division of Student Life and Success. </li></ul> <p>Residence Life Administration 30%</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate the "Move-in" Team, and opening and closing processes. </li><li>Assist with damage/community billing. </li><li>Coordinate and supervise the training programs for student and professional staff in Residence Life. </li><li>Coordinate Residence Assistant hiring process in Residence Life. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and AVP of Student Life and Success. </li></ul> <p>Advising and Counseling 5%</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a member of college, divisional, and ad hoc committees related to student conduct, care and support, threat assessment, bias response, campus safety, and additional related response teams. </li><li>Advise staff and residents on issues and trends pertaining to student conduct and residence life. </li><li>Serve as liaison, and troubleshooter for student concerns and campus life issues. </li><li>Meet with students and assess needs and interests for counseling and make appropriate referrals for mental health services for students with the Wellspan Student Health Center, and local agencies. </li></ul> <p>Experience and Education Required</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in student personnel, counseling, or related field required. </li><li>2-4 years experience in college student affairs work, residence life, student conduct preferred. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work effectively in a collegiate setting with students, faculty, administrators, and staff. </li><li>Ability to manage and coordinate departmental programs and services. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Excellent organization skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. </li><li>Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office, campus ERP system, and various other software systems. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>York College of Pennsylvania is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Non-Discriminatory.
