In this role, you will assist in supporting a diverse set of operational needs within our organization. If you are looking to provide world-class support to world-class research and education, we would love to hear from you.The Logistics Coordinator II is an experienced logistics professional responsible for ensuring that inbound and outbound shipping transactions are conducted in compliance with applicable domestic and international transportation regulations. This role requires knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory management, and regulatory compliance, including import, export, and dangerous goods requirements. The Logistics Coordinator II works with a high degree of independence, supports departmental operations, and serves as a resource to colleagues and internal customers.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Ensure inbound and outbound shipping transactions comply with all applicable transportation, import/export, and dangerous goods regulations. </li><li>Prepare, ship, and document domestic and international shipments to collaborators, vendors, and partners. </li><li>Actively monitor shipment status, forecast potential issues, and triage delayed or disrupted shipments with carriers and couriers. </li><li>Record purchase, receipt, transfer, and inventory data using inventory management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Workday. </li><li>Perform routine physical inventories, reconcile variances, and report results. </li><li>Develop and maintain working knowledge of current regulations related to shipping, imports, exports, and hazardous materials. </li><li>Perform administrative and operational support tasks, including prioritizing projects and supporting departmental initiatives. </li><li>Provide customer-focused support to labs, departments, and collaborators, communicating clearly and professionally. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in supply chain/logistics/business/international trade (or related) </li><li>Minimum 3 years of directly related logistics experience with domestic and international shipping exposure. </li><li>Will consider an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. </li><li>Working knowledge of import/export and (as applicable) dangerous goods requirements. </li><li>Ability to independently execute and troubleshoot shipments. </li><li>Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (Workday preferred), Microsoft Office, and web-based shipping solutions. </li><li>Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. </li><li>Ability to lift, reach, carry, and transport packages and supplies using appropriate material handling equipment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in supply chain/logistics/ business/international trade or related field </li><li>Experience in a research, healthcare, academic, or regulated environment. </li></ul> <p>Skills we are willing to train:</p> <ul> <li>· Utilizing our inbound tracking software (SCLogic), ERP system (Workday). </li><li>· Shipping lab materials according to applicable transportation regulations. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION and BENEFITS: All full-time employees of Van Andel Institute are eligible for benefits, effective Day One! VAI offers a competitive benefits package.
