<p>As an HR Generalist at OTECH, you'll play a vital and dynamic role, supporting our mission to strengthen Community, foster Learning, and uphold Integrity in everything we do. In this position, you'll engage in a wide range of professional and technical HR functions, from benefits and recruitment to orientation, training, classification, and entry-level employee relations. You'll also support daily operations such as personnel actions, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, and helping employees navigate HR processes with confidence and care.</p> <p>You'll be a trusted partner and resource for staff across campus, contributing to a positive and supportive workplace culture. This role requires passing a criminal background investigation to gain UCJIS access, enabling our HR team to complete required background checks for new hires. The position reports directly to the Human Resource Director and offers meaningful opportunities to grow, collaborate, and make an impact.</p> <p>Important Information: </p> <p>This is a career ladder position; applicants will be considered for the highest level for which they qualify. Hiring Range for the Human Resource Generalist II is $53,183.00 - $66,479.00</p> <p>1.Conducts recruitment efforts to include preparing recruitment announcements, screening applicants, recommending and reviewing or writing interview questions, serves on interview panels, and conducts reference checks.</p> <p>2.Performs job or position classification by conducting or reviewing job/position analyses, gathering organizational and other applicable information, preparing job descriptions and formulating a classification recommendation or decision.</p> <p>3.Assist in administrative process of hiring and onboarding, including I-9 compliance, benefits, payroll, and policies.</p> <p>4.Assists human resource director with coordinating employee benefits with providers and others, including open enrollment functions.</p> <p>5.Provides expertise and training in the areas of customer service, processing of human resource transactions, and human resource processes.</p> <p>6.Assists human resource director with required training, including preparation, review, and distribution; responsible for tracking staff training.</p> <p>7.Processes and tracks personnel and payroll actions and other information necessary to personnel files.</p> <p>8.Research and respond to human resources related inquiries.</p> <p>9.Run reports from database to support college functions.</p> <p>10.Manage the maintenance of personnel files.</p> <p>11.Assist the human resource director with conducting wage and salary surveys.</p> <p>12.Perform fingerprinting of new employees.</p> <p>13.Provide general support to departmental managers relating to human resources.</p> <p>14.Performs employee relations functions and works pro-actively with managers and supervisors to develop strategies for the resolution of human resource problems such as inappropriate employee behavior and performance issues.</p> <p>15.Administers FMLA and Workers' Comp.</p> <p>16.Act in the absence of the human resource director to support campus human resource functions.</p> <p>17.Ability to work overtime as needed.</p> <p>18.Maintains strict confidentiality.</p> <p>19.Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <p>HR Generalist I</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and/or human resource experience. Preference will be given to those with their SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of Microsoft office software applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a strong professional demeanor and dress.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be organized and able to track a variety of assignments. Demonstrate written and oral communication skills.</p> </li></ol> <p>HR Generalist II</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree plus two years of professional human resource experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or human resource experience. Preference will be given to those with their SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, and personnel information systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of Microsoft office software applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a strong professional demeanor and dress.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be organized and able to track a variety of assignments.
