<p>Providing a community service through tutoring elementary-aged children. Note this is a Federal Work Study position, so applicants need to be eligible for Federal Work Study to be hired for this position.</p> <p>Career Readiness Competencies: </p> <ul> <li>Career & Self-Development </li><li>Communication </li><li>Leadership </li><li>Tutoring children of varying age levels and abilities </li><li>Practice with effective teaching strategies including, but not limited to: read-aloud, vocabulary, sight-words </li><li>Developing positive relationships to increase student motivation and learning </li><li>Documenting services provided through reflection </li><li>Working collaboratively with teachers, school personnel, and site coordinators </li><li>Assisting teachers with varying duties when not working directly with children </li><li>A love of working with children </li><li>Becoming a positive role model to children </li><li>Must be Federal Work Study eligible; continuation in the program is contingent upon the America Reads evaluation completed by office and school </li><li>All tutors are required to have a BCI & FBI background check completed at the student's expense </li></ul>
