Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.</p> <p>Position Details</p> <p>The Campus Safety Department at The University of Tampa has a position for a qualified Assistant Shift Supervisor on the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift. This position will provide for the safety of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and property through enforcement of university and department policies and procedures. The Assistant Shift Supervisor in this position, in concert with the Shift Supervisor, Associate Director, and Director, provides leadership for the Campus Safety Student Assistant Program and the shift team. S/he patrols the campus, responds to calls for assistance including emergency and crisis situations, and provides other safety-related services. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor, Director, Associate Director and Assistant Director of Campus Safety.</p> <p>This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Perform the job functions of a Safety Officer.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist Shift Supervisor, Director and Associate Director in the daily operations of Campus Safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides management and supervision for the Campus Safety Student Assistants and the Campus Safety Student Coordinator.</p> </li><li> <p>Assume the duties of the Shift Supervisor during his/her absence.</p> </li><li> <p>Assign work tasks to the Campus Safety Student Assistants.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training for the Campus Safety Student Assistants.</p> </li><li> <p>Review Incident Reports, Daily Reports, and Time Sheets for completeness and accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate follow-up investigations into incidents occurring during the shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate vacation requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the department in a professional and positive manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Represent the department in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, Director, and Associate Director.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds.</p> </li></ol> <p>Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Strong interpersonal skills to build working partnerships with faculty, staff, and students as well as external parties including neighbors/local residents, city officials, municipal/county/state police agencies, local health services, first responders and members of the media.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to de-escalate conflict situations and a demeanor that is perceived as professional yet calm and relaxed.</p> </li><li> <p>A high level of professional ethics and personal integrity.</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Law enforcement or retired military police experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Must qualify for Florida Department of State Class "D" and "G" licenses.</p> </li><li> <p>Five (5) years of supervisory experience required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to exert appropriate strength when necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to climb stairs to the top of a nine story building; make judgment calls while under pressure/duress, and use, if necessary, a fire arm under pressure/duress appropriately.</p> </li><li> <p>Apprehend and detain, if necessary, suspected law violators which may include physical exertion.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent clear and concise communication skills required.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a valid Florida driver's license.</p> </li><li> <p>Must successfully pass a personal background, criminal records, psychological, and physical check.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in using various Safety Department equipment (two-way radio, cameras, computers, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in a college or university preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Attachments</p> <p>Please be sure to attach all required documents listed below in the attachment box at the bottom of the "My Experience" page of the application before continuing through the application.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Cover letter</p> </li><li> <p>Resume</p> </li></ol> <p>Pay Rate</p> <p>$21.50 per hour ($18.50 + $2.00 shift pay + $1 supervisor pay)</p> <p>A current UTampa officer regularly assigned to another shift will receive the adjusted rate of their current base rate (minus/plus shift differential) plus $1.00 per hour.</p> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.</p> <p>The University of Tampa offers great benefits to include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>FREE Tuition</p> </li><li> <p>Generous paid leave</p> </li><li> <p>Wellness initiatives</p> </li><li> <p>100% Employer-Funded Health Reimbursement Account</p> </li><li> <p>100% Employer-Paid Short & Long Term Disability Insurance</p> </li><li> <p>100% Employer-Funded Employee Assistance Program</p> </li><li> <p>Discounted On-Campus Dining Meal Plans</p> </li><li> <p>FREE On-Campus Parking</p> </li><li> <p>FREE Access to Campus Amenities (pool, library, campus events and more)</p> </li><li> <p>Fitness Center</p> </li><li> <p>Pet Insurance</p> </li><li> <p>Flexible Spending Accounts</p> </li><li> <p>And more!</p> </li></ul> <p>Submission Guidelines</p> <p>To receive full consideration for employment with The University of Tampa, please be sure to submit/upload required documents for this position at time of application submission.
