<p>Job Summary</p> <p>Avient Corporation is seeking a technical intern during summer 2026 at the corporate headquarters in Avon Lake, OH. This is a paid internship within our polymer lab.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>The individual will work with a senior scientist to carry out polymer analysis using FT-IR, XRF, thermal analysis, physical property and fire science test methods as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>The individual must be able to perform assigned tasks in accordance with good safety practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to internal and external requests</p> </li><li> <p>Train in other areas of Corporate Technology</p> </li><li> <p>Often work with fellow members of technology team to obtain a complete understanding of the solution to an analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>The candidate must be working towards a BS degree in science, engineering, materials science or a related field </li></ul> <p>Additional Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must have excellent laboratory skills, i.e. be willing to handle chemicals, equipment, delicate instrumentation, etc. carefully and safely</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and bring projects to completion in a timely fashion</p> </li><li> <p>Must be flexible and versatile in order to handle changing laboratory needs and to serve a variety of functions or technologies as the business demands</p> </li><li> <p>Must have competent PC computer skills, e.g. Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations</p> </li><li> <p>Must have manual dexterity sufficient to use wide variety of standard lab equipment and ability to operate standard office equipment</p> </li></ul>
