<p>Job Description:</p> <p>BASIC FUNCTION:</p> <p>The Simulation Technician sets up, operates, and manipulates patient care simulators, multimedia, computer and related equipment needed for simulating medical conditions and responses used in nursing and other allied health courses.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>This is a 10-month per year, full-time position. </li><li>Programs patient care simulators, prepares scenario props, and creates scenario moulage to model physiological responses to the clinical and skill objectives and specifications identified by instructional staff. </li><li>Sets up, operates, and manipulates patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment. </li><li>Restores laboratory to pre-scenario conditions. </li><li>Breaks down and cleans equipment post simulation scenario. </li><li>Provides technical recommendations for simulation improvements. </li><li>Assists instructors with the implementation of virtual clinical medical scenarios. </li><li>Operates instructional media equipment such as video cameras, multi media computer systems, and audio and video distribution systems used in a patient care simulation laboratory. </li><li>Explains to students the use of patient care simulators and related media and computer equipment. </li><li>Ensures student compliance with lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions. </li><li>Receives, set ups, and tests new simulators and related multimedia and computer equipment. </li><li>Performs preventative maintenance and repair of simulation, media and computer equipment in the lab; diagnoses more serious equipment malfunctions and arranges for repair; arranges for general maintenance and repair of laboratory facilities in coordination with the lab coordinator. </li><li>Maintains a variety of records related to simulation lab operations and equipment. </li><li>-Orders, maintains and provides security for supplies, materials, and equipment in the laboratory; stores, discards, and rotates supplies and materials according to procedures. </li><li>Maintain accurate electronic patient charts. </li><li>Assists sim lab coordinator. </li><li>Maintains laboratory schedule, attendance records, and tracks laboratory usage. </li><li>Assists in the research of purchasing options for lab equipment and software. </li><li>May provide training and work direction to student employees. </li><li>May be assigned to perform other duties in the Nursing Department during peak workload periods and in the absence of assigned staff. </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li><li>Evaluates personal learning needs and requests educational opportunities to maintain competency and certifications. </li></ul> <p>LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:</p> <ul> <li>CPR Certification </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in nursing or higher, or associate's degree in health sciences or related field </li><li>Successful completion of a patient care simulator training program, and one year of full-time, paid experience in direct patient care </li><li>Simulation Technician experience required in an academic setting </li><li>CPR Certification </li><li>Use of Microsoft Office Programs </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Patient care simulation technologies and applications </li><li>Medical terminology </li><li>Basic anatomy and physiology </li><li>Knowledge and capabilities of basic multimedia equipment </li><li>Basics of electromechanical and pneumatic functions of equipment and devices </li><li>Specialized computer software used in nursing and allied health professions </li><li>New developments in the field of human patient simulation learning </li><li>Standard computer software applications </li><li>Basic inventory and material storage procedures </li><li>Recordkeeping procedures </li></ul> <p>Skill in:</p> <ul> <li>Set up and operation of patient care simulation and related multimedia and computer equipment </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to patient care simulation scenarios </li><li>Troubleshoot patient care simulator, multimedia and computer equipment problems </li><li>Work effectively and collaboratively with nursing faculty, staff and students </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of information </li><li>Communicate effectively both orally and in writing </li><li>Take initiative and work independently </li><li>Meet schedules and deadlines </li><li>Give clear and concise instructions </li><li>Keep accurate and precise records </li><li>Learn the characteristics of new equipment and update skills to adapt to changing technology </li><li>Able to lift 25lbs </li><li>Able to work flexible hours </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salve Regina University offers generous benefits to eligible employees including (waiting periods apply):</p> <ul> <li>health, dental and vision coverage available on the first of the month following date of hire </li><li>403(b) retirement plan through TIAA with employee and employer contributions as well as access to advising services </li><li>long-term disability coverage </li><li>employer-paid life and AD&D insurance </li><li>up to 100% free tuition at Salve for eligible employees and qualified dependents </li><li>robust wellness program and free access to the on-campus Fitness Center </li></ul> <p>Other available benefits include:</p> <ul> <li>supplemental life insurance for employees and dependents </li><li>supplemental insurance coverage through Aflac </li><li>Tuition Exchange scholarship program.
