<ul> <li>Operate heavy equipment machinery to excavate, fill, level and distribute material for installation of underground utilities such as sewer, water, storm sewer lines, gas, or electrical conduit. </li><li>Operators must be able to dig for grade and utilize sloping, shoring, and benching techniques. </li><li>Operate the following machines; excavator, front end loader, scraper, motor grader, roller, bulldozer, skid steer, backhoe, and haul truck. </li><li>Dig around all live utilities, both underground and overhead. </li><li>Maintain sub-grade and assist in setup grade. </li><li>Set up center line and hold line while digging. </li><li>Create level surfaces, grade slopes to specifications, remove material and fill voids using plans or a surveyor as guidance. </li><li>Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in proper operating condition. </li><li>Perform general labor duties as needed or required. </li><li>Understand utility marking and know how to dig around them, along with operating equipment in close quarters of people, underground utility lines. </li><li>Ability to compute and set grades using laser equipment to maintain desired pipe grade. </li><li>Able to read drawings, plans and blueprints. </li><li>Familiar with staking and checking grade. </li><li>Must know the consistency of material and understand compaction techniques. </li><li>Detail-oriented with the ability to process information quickly and accurately. </li><li>Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals. </li></ul>
