<ul> <li>Safety Sensitive Position* </li></ul> <p>Classification:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Sales Manager</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and accountability of all shop fabrication and related installation activities for miscellaneous metals and structural steel. This role assumes primary responsibility for managing production workflow, employee performance, quality, safety, and efficiency. The Production Supervisor is expected to be an assertive, hands-on leader with extensive industry experience who drives accountability, mentors employees, and continuously works toward improved shop efficiency and production performance.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supervision and Daily Production Management </li><li>Directly supervise shop employees and oversee fabrication activities for miscellaneous metals and structural steel. </li><li>Plan, schedule, and manage daily shop workflow and manpower to meet production timelines, coordinating installation schedules with the Project Manager. </li><li>Maintain a hands-on presence in the shop to support fabrication, resolve issues, and ensure steady production flow. </li><li>Quality Control and Work Verification </li><li>Enforce productivity, quality, and housekeeping standards across all shop operations. </li><li>Conduct regular walkthroughs to monitor work progress and safety compliance. </li><li>Review and approve completed work for accuracy, quality, and completeness prior to release from the shop. </li><li>Labor, Budget, and Performance Management </li><li>Track job progress, labor usage, and shop performance; assist with developing and maintaining production metrics. </li><li>Ensure billable hours stay on budget and fill unavoidable downtime with billable or value-added work whenever possible. </li><li>Approve overtime and manpower adjustments with prior authorization from the Sales Manager. </li><li>Process Improvement and Systems Use </li><li>Identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and assist with implementing new systems and procedures to enhance production performance. </li><li>Use company systems for timekeeping, job tracking, scheduling, and documentation. </li><li>Employee Leadership, Training, and Performance Management </li><li>Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to shop personnel and support professional skill development. </li><li>Train employees on fabrication processes, procedures, and safety requirements, maintaining documentation of all training. </li><li>Conduct performance reviews, issue corrective actions as needed, and coordinate disciplinary matters with management. </li><li>Participate in interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees. </li><li>Safety and Compliance </li><li>Enforce all safety policies and procedures and conduct toolbox talks. </li><li>Work with the safety team to maintain a safe and compliant shop environment. </li><li>Coordination and Inventory Management </li><li>Manage shop-to-field handoff of completed work and resolve production or quality issues as needed. </li><li>Control and distribute inventory materials, perform biannual inventory counts, and order restock materials. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>7-10 years of hands-on experience in miscellaneous metals and/or structural steel fabrication. </li><li>Previous supervisory or foreman-level experience in a fabrication shop environment is required. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, layout, and shop workflow. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications. </li><li>Demonstrated leadership ability with a focus on accountability, efficiency, and employee development. </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>Pre-employment physical and drug screening. </li></ul> <p>Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Positive attitude and strong work ethic. </li><li>Leadership and team building skills. </li><li>Clear and effective communication with shop personnel and management. </li><li>Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple production activities. </li><li>Sound judgment, decision making, and accountability. </li><li>Proactive problem identification and resolution. </li><li>Safety-focused mindset. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Physical demands are based on the ability to perform production and supervisory activities throughout a 8-9 hour workday, 5 days a week. This role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with heavier lifting as needed with assistance.</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Shop environment with occasional jobsite visits as needed for issue resolution.</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Full-Time/Regular Hours Monday through Friday, 7AM - 3PM or 7AM-4PM as needed</p> <p>Compensation & Benefits:</p> <p>Hourly compensation, benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and other benefits after waiting period.</p> <p>Other Duties:</p> <p>This job description may not cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
