<p>General Statement of Job The Upward Bound Director plans directs and implements all project activities and serves as an academic skills resource and mentor to students This position oversees all aspects of the Upward Bound Program and ensures that all aspects of the program are efficient and effective Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties Researches and writes grant proposal for refunding Oversees recruiting and selecting of students for the Project Visits target schools and participants on a weekly basis Administers diagnostic tools and examines test data to determine individual service needs Develops programs and services to meet the needs of Project participants and assists with planning and designing curriculum Coordinates the professional job shadowing program Directs the Projects Summer College Simulat ion Experience Coordinates the Summer Bridge Program Manages the Upward Bound budget Assists in writing an Individual Plan of Action for each participant and charts each participants progress toward graduation Oversees the tracking of Upward Bound graduates Oversees Project evaluation and reports on Project accomplishments Coordinates professional development for Upward Bound staff Ensures compliance with Education Department General Administrative Regulations EDGAR and other federal regulations Acts as a liaison between the Project and the US Department of Education Coordinates with the Director of Project STAY in supervising a shared Secretary Oversees responsibilities including interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems Performs other related duties as required Education Experience and Licenses Masters degree from an accredited four year college or university is required Preferred field of study is Educational Administration Counseling Educational leadership or a related field Doctorate degree preferred Minimum two years experience and or training in program management or administration education counseling supervision and budget management ls required Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds is required Knowledge Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and or ability required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writingAbility to read and comprehend instructions correspondence and memosAbility to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to students faculty staff and members of the general publicAbility to add subtract multiple and divide in all units of measure using whole numb ers common fractions and decimalsAbility to compute rate ratio and percentAbility to create and interpret bar graphsAbility to work with statistics such as mean mode median quartiles and standard deviat ion Ability to perform general accounting skillsAbility to maintain highest level of confidentialityRequires knowledge of Upward Bound services and activities such as academic advising counseling mentoring tutoring financial aid etcRequires exceptional communication and organizational skillsRequires the ability to manage or administer grant funds Make recommendations that impact the budgetRequires the ability to use small office equipment including copy machines or multi line telephone systemsRequires the ability to use computers for data entryRequires the ability to use computers for word processing and or accounting purposes Physical DemandsWork Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit;
