<p>The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for a middle school emotional support teacher to teach English and social studies to grade 6-8 at our Stanley K. Landis (SKL) Building in Coatesville, PA. This position supports students in our Therapeutic Education Advancing Children's Horizons (TEACH) program. The TEACH program is a school-based, therapeutic program that provides a clinical and alternative education environment for children, grades 3-12, who have been diagnosed with a significant mental health disorder, such as an oppositional defiant disorder, a conduct disorder, a mood disorder, an anxiety disorder and/or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Landis (SKL) Building in Coatesville, PA</p> <p>Benefits Eligible: Yes</p> <p>Schedule: 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190 days in all subsequent years</p> <p>Exempt Status: Exempt</p> <p>Salaried or Hourly: Salaried</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors level degree in education required </li><li>Valid PA Special Education Certificate (Pk-6 and 7-12 or N-12) required </li><li>Experience teaching English and/or social studies preferred </li><li>Experience with middle school aged students preferred </li><li>Three to five years teaching experience preferred </li><li>Experience working with children and adolescents with severe and complex behavior challenges in school, community, or residential setting preferred </li><li>Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances required </li></ul> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject area </li><li>Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods </li><li>Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior </li><li>Support objectives and interventions of the educational program </li><li>Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom </li><li>Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress </li><li>When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students </li><li>Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required </li><li>Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students </li></ul> <p>Salary 2025-2026 School Year:</p> <ul> <li>$58,751 to $88,563 - Instructional I Certification </li><li>$61,300 to $92,110 - Instructional II Certification </li><li>$65,394 to $100,586- Master's Degree </li><li>$68,403 to $104,546- Master's +15 </li><li>$$69,938 to $106,442 - Master's + 30 </li><li>Placement on the salary scale is determined by previous experience.
