<p>SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help the homeless and poor of Washington, DC. With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families of our city. We strive to provide success paths toward mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, and employment with a living wage, affordable housing, and ultimately living independently and confidently.</p> <p>SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Community Resources Aide to join our Dining Room department on O Street in NW Washington, DC.</p> <p>Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $18.40 to $19.41 and may be commensurate with experience.</p> <p>Position Description: The Community Resources Aide is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily food service operations, managing volunteer participation, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of dining and shower facilities. This role ensures that clients receive consistent, quality services in a supportive and welcoming environment. The Community Resources Aide plays a vital role in the smooth operation of daily activities within the community resource center.</p> <p>Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (40 hours per week)</p> <p>Required: High School Diploma, 1-3 yrs. customer service experience</p> <p>Preferred: High School Diploma or GED; 3+ years of customer service experience; experience providing service to the homeless. Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.</p> <p>Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid; Food Handler Certification. Willing to obtain a state license.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of SOME Programs and services </li><li>Customer service skills to interact with volunteers and clients </li><li>Ability to use tact and respect to address client concerns </li><li>Time management with the ability to prioritize </li><li>Able to communicate with diverse audiences </li><li>Flexible and able to multitask when required </li></ul> <p>Expected Contributions: Dining Room Operations</p> <ul> <li>Provide food and beverage service for clients. </li><li>Provide deep cleaning of the kitchen. </li><li>Act as dining room host on a rotating schedule. </li><li>Track meal count for breakfast and lunch. </li><li>Reset dining service and clean in between meals. </li><li>Adhere to the serving timeline and communicate the timeline to volunteers. </li><li>Receive food donations and stock shelves. </li><li>Monitor supplies and replenish as needed. </li><li>Organize groceries for the Central Kitchen Program and package them for delivery. </li><li>Monitor dining room activity and guest behavior and contact Public Safety as needed. </li></ul> <p>Shower Operations:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee and run shower operations within allotted periods. </li><li>Dispense shower supplies and towels to guests. Ensure towels are returned for laundering. </li><li>Wash towels and washcloths daily. </li><li>Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the waiting room. </li><li>Clean bathroom stalls. </li><li>Keep statistics on shower usage </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Senior Director, Community Resources</p> <p>Closing Date: Open Until Filled</p> <p>Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.</p> <p>Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
