<p>Title School Psychologist Location NCOESC service areas Reports To Assistant Superintendent Scheduled Days As per employment contract / Full time, part time, In Person, Virtual, and Hybrid available FLSA Status Exempt Job Summary The school psychologist promotes sound educational practices for all students by serving their mental health and academic needs. The major role of the school psychologist is the intensive study of students suspected or identified as having educational disabilities and facilitating the delivery of services to these students, their parents, and the educational staff. The School Psychologist's role may include the following functions: As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, coordinates and contributes to the multi-factored evaluation, utilizing diagnostic instruments and techniques appropriate for the area of disability or suspected disability Coordinates and contributes to the written report of the evaluation team Participates as a member of the multi-factored evaluation team by interpreting the technical aspects of the evaluation data and by facilitating the determination of eligibility for special education services. (Students range in age from pre-school through 21 years) Contributes, recommends and facilitates consideration of results of the multi-factored evaluation in the development of the initial individualized educational program for each student evaluated Completes evaluations in a timely manner and in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Educational Improvement Act Facilitates in-services and educational and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff Work with a diverse student population Serve as a resource to administrators to assist with compliance and implementation of federal and state regulations pertaining to the provision of service to students suspected or identified as having educational handicaps Formulates recommendations for qualifying pupils to provide them with an IEP designed to meet their needs in the least restrictive environment Serve as a participant at building level assistance team meetings to develop interventions for students with educational difficulties Provides consultation services to parents and educational personnel on matters relating to the educational and/or mental health needs of students Serve as a consultant to the schools in the development of educational evaluation and accountability procedures, pupil and personnel policies, and curriculum Counsel students with disabilities Work with school personnel to develop strategies for classroom management, instructional methodology and crisis intervention Maintains liaisons with professional and other agencies who provide services to students Be involved in play based assessment</p>
