<p>Under the general direction and supervision of the Director, Child Development Center, the Child Development Center Aide performs the duties necessary to assist the Group Supervisor in planning and carrying on a developmental Child Care program that also provides a successful learning environment for the Early Childhood Education students. The major role of responsibility will be to carry out those duties, which involve the children at the Center. This is a part-time regular position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Work under Group Supervisor assisting in the carrying out of plans and teaching of appropriate educational programs, routines, activities, and experiences of children enrolled in the program. </li><li>Assist and cooperate with the Group Supervisor, other staff, and students who are involved in teaching or supervising the same group of children. </li><li>Assist the children enrolled in the assigned program during employment hours, including classroom, halls, lunchroom, play areas (indoor and outdoor), and field trips. </li><li>Cooperate with the Group Supervisor in any temporary reassignment necessary because of staff absences or changed attendance of children or in other ways necessary to maintain a quality program for all the children enrolled in the Center. </li><li>Cooperate with Early Childhood Education Instructors responsible for teaching, supervising, and evaluating students in the laboratory. </li><li>Cooperate with other Center staff so that each can assume assigned responsibilities effectively. </li><li>Evaluate each child in the assigned group and maintain records and other information regarding the progress of children, which will be conveyed to parents during conferences. </li><li>Give input to Group Supervisors or lab Instructors on students. </li><li>Be responsible for maintaining the general appearance of the classroom used and assist in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of other rooms (lunchroom, bathroom, etc.). </li><li>Be responsible for meeting the Child/Teacher ratio in assigned areas. </li></ul> <p>Promote a Culture of Belonging</p> <p>Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.</p> <p>Marginal Functions</p> <ul> <li>May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required. </li><li>Perform other College functions and duties as assigned. </li><li>Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone. </li><li>Ability to use basic computer skills. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary. </li><li>The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with children. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications Salary</p> <p>$15.00 per hour</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>Part-time regular employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account, with no match provided by the College. Additionally, part-time regular employees may enroll in the group vision plan through employee-paid premiums</p> <p>Schedule</p> <p>Normal hours of work for this part-time regular position are scheduled by the College generally Monday through Friday, based on a 29-hour workweek, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.</p>
