<p>Position Purpose/Summary</p> <p>Responsible for the physical preparation of materials used by the general public and library staff. This position will perform a variety of processing duties, primarily those pertaining to material preparation and will maintain quality and quantity of work according to general objectives of the department. Work is performed under the direction of the Technical Services Supervisor who reviews work through observation, reports, and conferences. No supervision is exercised over other employees.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Prepares books and other media for use by attaching labels, stamping ownership, laminating and attaching plastic covers. </li><li>Repairs book and other media by gluing hinges, taping and mending torn pages, replacing spines or missing pages, and determining other repair methods or evaluating whether repair is possible. </li><li>Monitors processing and repair supplies, submits orders to supervisor. </li><li>Accurately edits cataloging and acquisitions data fields. </li><li>Serves as back-up on Borrowers' Services desk as needed. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of materials preparation and book repair using specialized equipment. </li><li>Knowledge of basic office procedures utilizing basic computer skills. </li><li>Fine motor skills to perform required essential functions. </li><li>Ability to interact successfully with staff and the public. </li><li>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Knowledge of public library policy, services, and practices. </li><li>Ability to work occasional nights and weekends. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Prior library experience involving book repair preferred. </li></ul>
