<p>About Us</p> <p>Savannah State University established in 1890, is the first public historically black college or university in the state of Georgia and the first institution of higher learning in the city of Savannah. The university's students select majors from five colleges:</p> <ul> <li>Business Administration </li><li>Education </li><li>Engineering and Computing </li><li>Media, Arts, and Communication </li><li>Science and Humanities </li></ul> <p>The campus is by far the most picturesque in the state of Georgia. The moss-laden sweeping oak trees, expansive marsh and historic architecture create a resplendent yet tranquil atmosphere. Beneath the beauty and splendor is a vibrant residential campus bursting at the seams with the vim and vigor of quality collegiate life: relevant academic majors, engaging lectures, cutting-edge research, quality student-faculty engagement and a nurturing environment.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Assistant Professor of Management will deliver high-quality instruction in Management, and general business topics to undergraduate and graduate students while conducting research that meets the standards for publication in reputable academic journals.</p> <p>Additionally, the Assistant Professor will fulfill service responsibilities to the College and Savannah State University by participating in college and university committees, contributing to curriculum development, supporting student recruitment and retention efforts, mentoring students, and engaging in activities that enhance the institution's academic and professional reputation.</p> <p>NOTE: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>This is a 10-month tenure-track position that reports directly to the Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration. The role requires a commitment to academic excellence, research productivity, and meaningful contributions to the university and broader community through service and professional engagement.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be required to:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver high-quality instruction in general business, finance, and economics through both in-person and online teaching formats. </li><li>Conduct impactful and rigorous research that aligns with the academic standards of the college and results in publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals. </li><li>Actively mentor and support students by holding regular office hours to provide academic guidance, address questions, and foster meaningful engagement beyond the classroom. </li><li>Assist students in achieving their educational and career goals by offering guidance, mentorship, and resources to help them succeed academically and professionally. </li><li>Contribute to professional and community service efforts at the college and university level. This includes participating in committees, supporting institutional initiatives, and engaging in activities that strengthen the academic reputation and community impact of Savannah State University. </li><li>Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials and evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals </li><li>Foster environments that reflect ethical behavior and respect. </li><li>Participate in student recruitment and retention activities. </li><li>Attend convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community meetings, as well as actively collaborate and support student success through involvement in events and clubs. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Doctoral Degree in Management or equivalent from an AACSB-accredited or internationally recognized research institution is required. Individuals with advanced ABD status (Proposal defended and dissertation well under way, will be considered). </li><li>Prior professional and academic experience in the field of expertise is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Proposed Salary</p> <p>The proposed salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of core business principles such as management, operations, and organizational behavior. </li><li>Knowledge of data analysis and research methodologies applied in a business context. </li><li>Knowledge of legal, ethical and compliance issues in business practices. </li><li>Knowledge of current trends and debates in business. </li><li>Knowledge of business analytics tools and emerging technologies in the discipline. </li><li>Knowledge of instructional strategies and curriculum development in higher education. </li><li>Skills in interpersonal relations and classroom management </li><li>Skills in designing and delivering engaging lectures and seminars. </li><li>Skills in conducting scholarly research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. </li><li>Skills in integrating technology and digital resources into teaching. </li><li>Skills in assessing student learning and providing constructive feedback. </li><li>Skills in oral and written communication for academic and public audiences. </li><li>Ability to foster critical thinking among students. </li><li>Ability to mentor and advise students on academic and career paths. </li><li>Ability to create a supportive classroom environment. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental initiatives. </li><li>Ability to adapt teaching methods to all learning styles. </li></ul> <p>Apply Before Date</p> <p>Review of applications will begin upon receipt.
