We are a community of educators dedicated to developing graduates who succeed personally and professionally and contribute to the common good.</p> <p>WCU proudly offers a positive and purposeful work environment; comprehensive employee benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance along with many wellness programs; a commitment to work-life balance including generous paid vacation, paid sick time, military leave and paid time off for most major holidays; and a University mission to support employee personal and professional growth including a tuition waiver for self and family members, training and development, and advancement opportunities.</p> <p>The College of the Sciences and Mathematics prepares WCU students to be informed citizens and successful professionals, through academic programs and co-curricular experiences in the computational, mathematical, natural, and social sciences, as well as engineering.</p> <p>In collaboration with the Laboratory Coordinator, the Laboratory Stock Clerk obtains quotes, orders and tracks materials for the Chemistry teaching and research labs; receives, records, monitors and delivers stockroom inventory for the departments of Chemistry, Biology, Earth & Space Science; maintains supplies; safely handles, stores, transports and disposes of compressed gas cylinders, chemicals, and living and preserved specimens; and provides excellent customer service and support for the Science Complex and Merion Science Centers.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience monitoring and maintaining inventory and reports; the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities; excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; and the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse campus community including students, faculty and staff. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to lift and move heavy objects.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Receive and sort deliveries from UPS, FedEx, DHL, and others </li><li>Monitor the Science Complex and Merion Science Center for delivered packages </li><li>Track deliveries (SAP/Source Point) </li><li>Ensure the quality of deliveries and contact vendors to resolve issues </li><li>Unpack, distribute, and deliver orders on campus </li><li>Communicate with campus partners regarding the status of deliveries </li><li>Communicate with vendors regarding regular deliveries </li><li>Collaborate with vendors for the best pricing and availability for orders as needed </li><li>Monitor and update required Safety Data Sheets for all stock chemicals (SharePoint) </li><li>Enter purchase requisitions for goods and services (SAP / Source Point) </li><li>Estimate, order and maintain gas and liquid nitrogen supplies per semester </li><li>Manage and reconcile WCU purchasing card </li><li>Assist with Purchasing Department inquiries </li><li>Maintain electronic records including purchase orders, credit card orders, and invoices (SharePoint) </li><li>Schedule requests for pickup or bring items to shipping centers as needed </li><li>Assist to organize and clean the stockroom </li><li>Remove and properly dispose of unnecessary or expired inventory </li><li>Perform regular tank checks and maintain full cylinders </li><li>Set up and remove glass waste boxes from the labs as needed </li><li>Check empty classrooms to make sure labs are locked and chemicals are secure </li><li>Monitor stock levels and order replacements when necessary </li><li>Respond to requests to pick up or process chemical waste </li><li>Document and transport waste chemicals for safe storage </li><li>Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) for safe hazardous chemical storage and coordinate waste picked up </li><li>Assist to move equipment as needed </li><li>Participate in meetings with Purchasing and potential new vendors </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li><li>Three years of experience in stores control work or </li><li>One year of experience with responsibility for the operation of a small storeroom or </li><li>Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a high school or vocational school or </li><li>Any equivalent combination of experience and training </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures </li><li>Knowledge of purchase and requisition procedures </li><li>Knowledge of transportation agencies and shipment methods </li><li>Knowledge of inventory control systems and procedures </li><li>Ability to determine quality and quantity of goods in relation to prescribed specifications </li><li>Ability to install and maintain stock inventory records </li><li>Sufficient physical strength to permit the lifting and moving of heavy objects </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint </li><li>Excellent written communication skills </li><li>Customer service experience </li></ul> <p>This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to lift and move heavy objects. </p> <p>Candidates should apply online at https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/wcupa.
