<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Coordinator of Student Organizations, Leadership and Service (SOLS) for the Student Affairs division at Vanderbilt University is responsible for assisting with co-curricular learning and development through intentional student engagement while staying abreast of best practices in higher education.. The Coordinator assists the office with workshops and presentations in relation to leadership development and service-learning.. The Coordinator works with others in the office to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that supports the vision for student leadership and coaching in student affairs.</p> <p>About the Work Unit:</p> <p>Student Organizations, Leadership and Service (SOLS) strives to encourage co-curricular learning and development through intentional student engagement. SOLS connects the campus community by highlighting opportunities for meaningful involvement and helping students engage with tools to help manage and track the co-curricular student experience. We support the mission-driven work of student organizations and seek to equip student leaders with vital skills and resources to make their organizations more effective, inclusive, impactful, and sustainable. Staff in the office oversee the registration process for Vanderbilt's 500+ registered student organizations and provide training and coaching to student leaders.</p> <p>About Student Affairs at Vanderbilt:</p> <p>Student Affairs serves a central role in student learning and development at Vanderbilt, advancing the University's mission of teaching, research, and service. Our staff are committed to continued growth in knowledge, awareness, skills, and experience engaging with these priorities in a higher education environment.</p> <p>Key Functions and Expected Performance:</p> <p>Student Organizations</p> <ul> <li>Be knowledgeable of various campus resources to assist in referring students to the proper office/department to address needs that go beyond the SOLS staff. </li><li>Serves as the primary coach for numerous registered student organizations. o Meet with student leaders in 1:1, executive board and general body meetings throughout the year. </li><li>Support use of online technology including, but not limited to, Anchor Link </li></ul> <p>Leadership Development</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the office in the review, development, and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for student leadership development that supports the missions of the Dean of Students Office and Vanderbilt University. </li><li>Create, develop, and execute initiatives centered around leadership development. Assist the Assistant Director in executing the LeaDores Certificate Program. </li><li>Assist with developing a comprehensive student organization coach training program that includes onboarding of new coaches and continuing education throughout the year. </li><li>Work with SOLS team to plan and coordinate the Vanderbilt Awards for Leadership Excellence (VALE), Vanderbilt's premier student leader and student organization recognition experience. </li><li>Assist the Assistant Director in developing efficient processes and guidelines for supporting student organization activities. </li><li>Compile, analyze, and use program data to enable a culture of data driven decision making in all areas of the office. </li><li>Lead and provide group presentations and 1:1 Clifton Strengths sessions to students. </li></ul> <p>Service Learning Opportunities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and coordinate service-learning initiatives and opportunities that integrate community engagement with academic and leadership development goals. </li><li>Collaborate and develop service-related opportunities with the Leadership & Service Program Coordinator. </li><li>Participate in SOLS related service opportunities for students and campus community (MLK Joint Day of Service, Service Fair, Service Day) </li><li>Responsible for the VOICE service-learning cohort. </li><li>Foster partnerships with local and national organizations to create meaningful service opportunities aligned with student learning outcomes. </li><li>Facilitate student reflection sessions and workshops to deepen learning, civic responsibility, and social justice awareness through service. </li><li>Assess and report on the impact of service-learning programs on student development and community partnerships. </li></ul> <p>Administrative</p> <ul> <li>Serve on divisional committees and working groups to enrich the experience and resources available to staff across the division. </li><li>Participate in division wide events as needed (Move-In Day, Rites of Spring, Diverse 'Dores Day, MLK Day, etc.) to support colleagues and ensure these events run smoothly. </li><li>Maintain an understanding of institutional and departmental financial policies related to areas such as travel, procurement, expense, and time reporting to ensure compliance and proper stewardship of university resources. </li><li>Demonstrate a willingness to support colleagues across the division in order to encourage the implementation or fulfillment of divisional goals and strategic priorities. </li><li>Performs other work-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Relationships:</p> <p>The position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Organizations and Leadership Development. The position does not supervise full-time staff but oversees two student workers.</p> <p>Education and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is necessary. </li><li>Master's degree is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Experience and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>At least one year of directly related experience is necessary. </li><li>At least two years of directly related experience is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of university administration operations is preferred. </li><li>Eagerness to build relationships with students, faculty and staff is necessary. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple tasks/events at once is necessary. </li><li>Strong organizational and managerial skill set is necessary. </li><li>Involved in community, regional and national professional organizations is preferred. </li><li>Experience in developing, implementing, and leading training programs and/or serving as a project team leader in workplace development is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of leadership development practices and program evaluation is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of service-learning theory is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of student learning and development concepts/theory is preferred. </li><li>Excellent written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills are necessary. </li><li>Experience with marketing, branding, social media, Canva, Photoshop, and Wordpress is preferred. </li></ul>
