Primary responsibilities include a full-time teaching load of Spanish</p> <p>classes, course assessment, curriculum development, and knowledge of a student and learning-centered</p> <p>environment. Commitment to an environment in which faculty and students share ownership for learning, trust, high</p> <p>expectations for performance, and mutual respect is expected.</p> <p>This position requires expertise in the discipline of Spanish. Individual must project a professional image, possess</p> <p>strong communication skills, and demonstrate cooperative work skills. Must have the ability to apply various creative</p> <p>classroom methodologies to promote student learning and development.</p> <p>Specific Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li> <p>Plan and teach courses which fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform instructional duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare daily lesson plans, course outlines, and other instructional materials as needed for effective instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain ongoing professional development.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and publicly post a schedule of available office hours for consultation with students and others as may be required.</p> </li><li> <p>Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student learning & performance and achievement of course goals and objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate examinations and other assessment methodologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate assessment strategies to measure Core Learning Outcomes and direct measures of student learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop, teach, and evaluate all assigned courses incorporating active learning strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Design, implement, and evaluate a systematic plan for program evaluation.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Recognize and adapt teaching style to the educational needs of the individual students.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate tact and impartiality in dealing with students and student-related problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine and submit students' grades in accordance with established college policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Submit attendance and grades for assigned students electronically as required and maintain appropriate grading documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Refer students for counseling and tutoring when necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop, execute, evaluate, and update the course syllabi and provide college officials with the most recent official copy in electronic format.</p> </li><li> <p>Be available for assignment to both daytime and evening courses at main and off-campus locations.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform all teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Academic Affairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve on assigned or voluntary committees, governance teams, and task forces, and/or as an officer of the Faculty Council.</p> </li><li> <p>Plan, attend, and assist with student, faculty, and college activities as required, including such events as Math Counts and Science Fair.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend changes and/or revisions to ensure current and relevant curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Note: Please rank the below tasks as F for Frequent (6+ hours daily), M for Moderate (4-6 hours daily), O for Occasional (2-4 hours daily) or R for Rarely(>2 hours daily).</p> <p>F Stand or Sit R Stoop/Kneel/Crawl R Carry/Weight Lift</p> <p>F Walk F Talk/Hear R Exposure to Outside Environment</p> <p>F Use of Fingers/Hands F See R Able to lift 25 pounds</p> <p>R Climb R Taste/Smell R Exposure to Hazardous Materials</p> <p>Position Requirements:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's degree in Spanish or master's degree in a closely-related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish and teaching experience in a post-secondary setting (preferably in a two-year college) is required;</p> </li><li> <p>Teaching experience in a post-secondary setting (preferably in a two-year college) is required.</p> </li></ol> <p>This job description is subject to change at any time and nothing in this job description restricts the college's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities.
