Founded in 1872 Concord University (CU) is a public, career focused institution located in rural southern West Virginia with an enrollment around 1800 students and 300 employees.</p> <p>The Director of Human Resources will provide leadership and direction of the University's Human Resources functions, ensuring alignment with university strategic and operating plans and in support of Concord University's mission and vision.</p> <p>The Director of Human Resources is a leadership position that facilitates an organizational culture that promotes employee engagement and maximizes employee potential.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Duty/Responsibility</p> <p>Key Duties and Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Leadership and Strategy</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain effective HR strategy that supports achieving the University's strategic goals and objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Key advisor to management team on employment, talent, and employee relations</p> </li><li> <p>Lead development of HR policy, procedures, and guidance documents</p> </li><li> <p>Talent Planning and Acquisition</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee execution of talent planning and acquisition including maintaining current search guidance and training, talent assessment, and succession.</p> </li><li> <p>HR Compliance and Risk</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee University safety, health, and wellness</p> </li><li> <p>Federal and State compliance with wage and hour, ADA, Affirmative Action, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Compensation and Benefits</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain current and administer faculty, staff, and executive compensation plans</p> </li><li> <p>Performance and Development</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor staff evaluation processes to enhance performance, effectiveness, and career development</p> </li><li> <p>Employee Relations and Engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Provide guidance to managers and staff with regard to conflict management and resolution</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate formal resolution processes internally and with Higher Education Policy Commission counsel</p> </li><li> <p>Continue to build culture of engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned</p> </li></ul> <p>% of Time 100</p> <p>Education/Knowledge</p> <p>Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification</p> <ul> <li>A Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field is preferred. </li><li>A combination of a Bachelor's Degree and senior level HR experience and training, which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be substituted. </li><li>Preference is given to applicants who hold a PHR or SPHR certification. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills</p> <ul> <li>Must have a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and establish good working relationships with college administration, employees, and the general public. </li><li>Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. </li><li>Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations </li><li>Strategic thinking and ability to align HR functions with overall business goals </li><li>Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems. </li><li>Strong leadership and team management capabilities </li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities </li><li>Exceptional public relations skills and ability to maintain a professional posture at all times </li><li>Prior experience leading a team of HR professionals in various HR functional areas </li><li>Proficiency in the use of PC and Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Required Experience</p> <p>Type of experience Needed Working experience in a Human Resources field with preference given to applicants with managerial level HR experience and HR certification Amount of Experience Needed (Months/Years) More than 8 years Type of experience Needed Experience with West Virginia education or state human resources systems.
