<p>Developmental Pathways (DP) has an opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join the Finance team. The Assistant Controller will manage the day-to-day operation of the general ledger, accounts payable, monthly accounting, financial statement compilation, coordinating audits, tax filings, process management, internal controls, reporting, and compliance. They will assist with the timely review of the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances, and assist in developing/updating operational procedures.</p> <p>This is an opportunity to coach, lead, and mentor accounting and accounts payable staff. To learn more about our commitment to inclusion and diversity, visit our website: https://www.dpcolo.org/about-us/inclusion-and-diversity/</p> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or similar area</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of three (3) years of management and supervisory experience</p> </li><li> <p>Thorough working knowledge of accrual accounting and related accounting principles (GAAP)</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interpret and apply IRS standards</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li> <p>Certified Public Accounting (CPA)</p> </li><li> <p>Management/supervisory experience in a financial environment</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensure compliance with all accounting and finance policies</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee and manages the day-to-day operations of the department, which includes month-end close, accruals, accounts payable, and review of internal and external financial statements</p> </li><li> <p>Protect the organization's assets by establishing, overseeing, and enforcing internal controls; and advising management of financial liabilities and potential risks</p> </li><li> <p>Review, provide input, and ensure employees receive regular feedback through ongoing supervision and regular performance evaluations; ensure all evaluations are delivered timely</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure timely and appropriate training of staff; develop and implement training as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Review and assist staff in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts</p> </li><li> <p>Continually evaluate accounting & financial reporting and monitor processes and procedures to ensure an effective control environment</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the management of and/or manage external audits, monthly, and year-end calendars</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate and compile 990 tax return schedules and coordinate with external professionals and internal personnel</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate and compile the statement of functional expenses</p> </li><li> <p>Provide annual mill levy financial information to reporting coordinator</p> </li><li> <p>Stay up to date on financial and accounting rules and regulations and implement new rules when necessary</p> </li><li> <p>Act as the liaison between finance and programs by providing accounting support and assistance with interpreting monthly financial results</p> </li></ul> <p>About Us</p> <p>Started in 1964, Developmental Pathways (DP) is a nonprofit agency serving more than 15,000 individuals with disabilities and their families in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Elbert counties.
