We encourage you to apply and become a valued member of our vibrant campus community today!</p> <p>At the University of Wyoming, we are committed to creating a supportive and enriching workplace.</p> <p>JOB TITLE:</p> <p>Branding Iron Editor-in-Chief</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE:</p> <p>To provide overall supervision of the Branding Iron newspaper.</p> <p>JFNTMP</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Have overall responsibility for newspaper. </li><li>Work a minimum of 20 hours per week. </li><li>Verify and edit newspaper copy prior to composition. </li><li>Prepare newspaper "dummy" for news and Page 1 material. </li><li>Supervise the work of newspaper section editors. </li><li>Supervise the work of newspaper's assistant editor and copy editor. </li><li>Supervise the work of the photo editor. </li><li>Supervise the work of news staff writers. </li><li>Work collaboratively with the BI Online editor and the Social Media editor to ensure information is being posted to the Web site in a timely manner. </li><li>Produce articles for both the print and online editions. </li><li>Provide material for editorial, op-ed pages. </li><li>Dummy editorial, op-ed pages. </li><li>Serve as public relations person for the paper. </li><li>Conduct staff meetings as necessary. </li><li>Attend Student Media Board meetings as ex-officio member. </li><li>Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager. </li><li>Serve as a contact person with Communication and Mass Media Department. </li><li>Provide written Editorial Policy to the Student Media Board at the first fall meeting. </li><li>Superintend the operations of the newspaper production and deadline schedules. </li><li>Need to be involved in active recruitment for class visits. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Full-time student </li><li>Minimum 2.5 GPA </li><li>Newspaper experience, including writing news stories. </li><li>Must be available to start work Aug. 18, 2025 </li><li>Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights. </li><li>Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training. </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Some supervisory experience. </li><li>Basic knowledge of what goes into a good newspaper story, as well as other newspaper editorial content. </li><li>Some prior newspaper experience. </li><li>Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:</p> <p>Complete the online application.
