<p>Job Title: Project Manager - Packaging Equipment</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>This role leads capital projects focused on packaging machinery and related equipment within a chemical manufacturing plant. The Project Manager oversees projects from concept through installation and commissioning, with a strong emphasis on conveying systems, mixers, and related process equipment. The position requires 5-10 years of project management experience, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to drive efficiency and cost savings initiatives. This is a long-term contract opportunity (around two years) with a very high potential to transition into a permanent role, offering exposure to a large, stable organization that maintains a close-knit, collaborative environment.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage end-to-end projects for packaging machines used in production, including planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out. </li><li>Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules around machine installation, commissioning, and integration into plant operations. </li><li>Coordinate equipment installation activities, ensuring proper sequencing of work, resource allocation, and adherence to safety and quality standards. </li><li>Lead efficiency and optimization projects focused on cost savings, throughput improvements, and reduced downtime. </li><li>Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, and facilities teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables. </li><li>Monitor project budgets for typical project sizes ranging from approximately $300K to $1.5M, ensuring projects remain within approved cost parameters. </li><li>Identify project risks and issues early, develop mitigation plans, and communicate impacts and solutions to stakeholders. </li><li>Drive a strong sense of urgency across all project activities, proactively pushing tasks forward to meet deadlines and business objectives. </li><li>Schedule and coordinate factory acceptance tests and occasional travel to vendor or partner facilities as needed. </li><li>Ensure that projects align with plant-level priorities, recognizing that project ownership and decision-making are primarily at the plant rather than corporate level. </li><li>Prepare and deliver clear project updates, status reports, and documentation for leadership and cross-functional teams. </li><li>Support continuous improvement initiatives within the plant by recommending and implementing best practices in project management and equipment installation. </li><li>Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>5-10 years of project management experience, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environment. </li><li>Proven experience managing projects involving packaging machines, conveying systems, and related facilities equipment. </li><li>Strong experience in engineering concepts sufficient to manage technical projects in a chemical plant setting. </li><li>Hands-on experience with equipment installation projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of trades and vendors. </li><li>Ability to create, manage, and adjust project schedules to meet milestones and deadlines. </li><li>Strong sense of urgency with the ability to push projects forward and hold stakeholders accountable. </li><li>Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and leadership. </li><li>Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within defined budgets. </li><li>Comfort working in a chemical factory or plant environment with complex machinery and processes. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working for or with engineering firms or large industrial organizations is highly desired. </li><li>Experience managing projects in the $300K to $1.5M range. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and external partners. </li><li>Interest in long-term career growth within a large organization that offers relocation and internal mobility opportunities. </li><li>Willingness to occasionally provide coverage across different shifts on a volunteer basis when needed. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The role is based in a manufacturing environment, working closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams on active manufacturing lines.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
