<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>METCO</p> <p>Job Title:</p> <p>METCO Bus Monitor</p> <p>FLSA Status:</p> <p>(Exempt/Non-exempt)</p> <p>Non-exempt, Non-aligned</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>METCO Director, Building Principal</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):</p> <p>The METCO Bus Monitor provides supervision for students on the Newton METCO program as they travel from school. This is a part-time position with hours from 2:30pm - 4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 1:45pm - 3:45pm on Tuesdays; and 11:30am - 1:30pm on Early Release Days.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School education </li><li>Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with middle school-age children </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):</p> <ul> <li>Ride the bus with Newton METCO students at Bigelow and Oak Hill from Newton to Boston in the afternoons </li><li>Manage student behavior on the bus by promoting a positive and safe environment </li><li>Ensure the safety of students riding the bus by adhering to school-based and bus rules of conduct </li><li>Coach and support students on socio-emotional behavior plans by aligning expectations to the classroom </li><li>Complete incident reports when bus and school-based rules of conduct are violated </li><li>Submit incident reports to Newton METCO office and Building Principal/Administrator </li><li>Consistent and on-time attendance is required or supervision and instruction of the students </li><li>Responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as needed </li><li>May be expected to provide substitute educator services </li><li>May be expected to attend trainings related to position </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Majority of work is performed on a bus. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.</p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel.
