<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Office of the Chancellor is seeking an associate director of executive projects. In this influential role, you will lead critical initiatives that shape the future of Vanderbilt University. Collaborate closely with top executives and manage a diverse portfolio of projects aimed at driving strategic impact across our institution. As a key member of our team, you will develop and nurture relationships with senior stakeholders, drive project success, and advocate for excellence across the organization, while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment dedicated to advancing education and community engagement.</p> <p>The Associate Director will help ensure projects are aligned with organizational goals set by the executive leadership, including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, and the Board of Trustees. This role serves as a key member of project teams, directs project planning, execution, and delivery, and fosters stakeholder engagement both internally and externally. The Associate Director will report directly to the Senior Director of Executive Projects.</p> <p>About the Work Unit:</p> <p>The Office of the Chancellor at Vanderbilt University is dedicated to realizing the University's vision through effective management and strategic initiatives. The unit reflects the core values and mission of the university, addressing complex issues across the institution and collaborating closely with the Board of Trustees.</p> <p>Key Functions and Expected Performance:</p> <ul> <li>Provide strategic oversight and management for a portfolio of executive projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with university objectives and stakeholder expectations. </li><li>Lead cross-functional projects and manage resources, scopes, risks, and changes effectively. </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with senior-level stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to foster effective collaboration and project success. </li><li>Aid in tracking, analyzing, and reporting project progress against key performance metrics to inform executive decisions. </li><li>Contribute to enhancing project management capabilities across the organization through participation in mentorship, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. </li><li>Prepare high-level project communications to maintain clarity and alignment within the organization. </li><li>Advocate for a project management culture that emphasizes excellence, collaboration, and agility. </li><li>Maintain project governance and support the development of methodologies for executing project activities within time, budget, and quality constraints. </li><li>Conduct research and prepare documentation, reports, and white papers for executive review. </li><li>Identify and analyze administrative, financial, and operational issues, adapting to a rapidly changing environment. </li><li>Assist in decision-making processes on complex tasks while managing multiple concurrent projects. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Relationships:</p> <p>This position may supervise project coordinators and support staff, while reporting administratively to the Senior Director of Executive Projects.</p> <p>Education and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; a master's degree in a related field is preferred. </li><li>Equivalent professional certification in project management, e.g., PMP, is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Experience and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management role is required, preferably within higher education. </li><li>Experience supporting large, complex initiatives in a leadership capacity is necessary. </li><li>Familiarity with strategic planning, risk management, and organizational change management is important. </li><li>Proficiency in project management methodologies, techniques, standards, and tools is essential. </li><li>Strong leadership skills and experience collaborating with project teams and senior management is necessary. </li><li>Effective communication skills to engage diverse stakeholder groups are essential. </li><li>Ability to handle confidential information and navigate complex organizational structures is required. </li><li>Analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on data-driven project planning and execution are necessary. </li></ul>
