<p>The Computer Consultant II is the single point of contact for the assigned department for all ITS needs, requests, purchase recommendations, and support covering desktop hardware and software, remote access solutions, and tablets and/or smartphones. This position is critical to the ongoing operations of Administrative Computing Services (ACS) in that it is responsible for providing elevated computer and application support.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. </li><li>Three (3+) plus years relevant experience in information technologies/computer science as necessary. </li><li>Please note a valid Drivers License and a vehicle are required for this position. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Specialized knowledge includes an understanding of networking, IT hardware, software and how it interacts with the operating system, printer and printing capabilities, cell technologies as they pertain supporting client devices, and mobile computing platforms. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Use computing concepts, documented procedures, and knowledge of SU's systems to address a wide variety of IT support requests, including but not limited to general hardware and software break/fix and hardware and software installation. </li><li>Effectively prioritize incoming support tickets, coordinate and schedule with users, and provide cross-unit support as requested by supervisor. </li><li>Manage hardware inventory of assigned area, plan upgrade lifecycle, and work with units to replace aging equipment as necessary. </li><li>Maintain a familiarity with department's specific settings, applications, and hardware configurations. </li><li>Interface with vendors and other 3rd parties to provide technical support and ensure systems are adhering to University policy. </li><li>Work with assigned department directors to ensure business goals are aligned with technical processes. </li><li>Identify opportunities to improve business processes through technical means. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Physical Mobility: 65% sitting, 15% standing, 15% walking, 10% kneeling, 5% climbing stairs. </li><li>Physical effort: Lifting 35 pounds waist high, 20 pounds shoulder high, 15 lbs above head. Must be able to carry weight 15ft. Weight is pushed 50%, pulled 30%, and held 20% of time. </li><li>Physical dexterity: Operating telephone 10%, computer/electronic equipment 60%, hand tools 15%, and manipulating small objects 15%. </li><li>Ability to see, hear/listen, touch and speak is essential to work. </li><li>Work requires reading, writing, analyzing data, problem solving, and conducting research on a daily basis. </li><li>Work environment involves 80% indoor and 20% outdoor. </li></ul> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Application Instructions </li></ul> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
