<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>Come join the Financial Reporting team at State Fund!</p> <p>The Financial Reporting team has an opening for Insurance Accounting Specialist. Insurance Accounting Specialist will be working in the team carrying out tasks to timely complete the financial close process ensuring that the financial statements are prepared in conformity with accounting practices prescribed or permitted by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) with appropriate internal controls.</p> <p>In this role, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks including reconciling account balances, preparing relevant reports with tight deadlines </li><li>Collaborate with various Finance functions; analyze financial variances, present results to upper management </li><li>Resolve accounting discrepancies by investigating root cause of issues including but not limited to following up cross-functionally </li><li>Prepare quarterly and annual CDI filings </li><li>Document and maintain accounting processes, procedures, memos, and guidelines </li><li>Work closely with external and internal auditors, and cross functions to ensure timely deliverable of financial reports </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>CPA a plus </li><li>Knowledge in insurance accounting </li><li>Knowledge in preparing journal entries, T-accounts, financial statements, and reconciliations </li><li>Team player and able to work independently </li><li>Ability to multi-task and manage priorities to meet deadlines </li><li>Excellent fact-finding, summarizing and decision making skills to present findings and propose solutions to management; problem solver </li><li>Dependable, composed, professional, self-motivated and results driven </li><li>Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Intermediate to advanced level), Word, PowerPoint Outlook, Power BI </li><li>Experience with Oracle ERP and SQL </li></ul> <p>This position may be located in Glendale, Pleasanton, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Ana, Stockton or Vacaville.</p> <p>New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable.
