<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Events & Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, administration, and operational oversight of events, as well as for academic activity workflows, and operational processes for the School of Climate, Environment, and Society (CES). This position manages the development and execution of schoolwide event strategy, establishes operational procedures, and exercises independent judgment in coordinating resources, priorities, and timelines to support academic, student, and community-facing initiatives.</p> <p>The Manager serves as a key operational partner to school leadership, providing guidance on event planning, workflow design, and operational efficiency. The role is responsible for developing standards, improving processes, and ensuring alignment between CES events, academic cycles, and institutional priorities. The position operates with a high level of autonomy and is expected to make recommendations and decisions regarding scheduling, resource allocation, workflow design, and operational practices. As a member of the CES administration and operations team, the position shares responsibilities for pooled CES administrative needs.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Event Strategy, Program Planning, and Oversight</p> <p>Develop and oversee the CES event strategy, including defining event categories, planning standards, timelines, and operational requirements. Establish annual and semester-based event plans aligned with academic and institutional priorities. Determine scheduling priorities, resolve conflicts, and approve event plans to ensure effective use of resources. Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and student organizations on event feasibility, planning approach, and alignment with school goals.</p> <p>Event Management and Operational Leadership</p> <p>Manage the planning and execution of major CES academic, recruitment, and student events. Determine logistical approach, vendor needs, staffing requirements, and operational timelines. Approve event plans and oversee implementation to ensure consistency with school standards. Coordinate with internal and external partners and make decisions regarding event structure, format, and resource allocation.</p> <p>Operational Process Management and Workflow Design</p> <p>Design, implement, and improve operational workflows related to academic administration, and school operations. Establish procedures, documentation, and standards to support consistent execution of CES activities. Evaluate operational needs and recommend changes to improve efficiency, coordination, and service delivery. Provide guidance to staff on operational practices and systems use.</p> <p>Communications Coordination and Cross-Functional Collaboration</p> <p>Analyze event outcomes, participation trends, and operational data to assess effectiveness. Recommend changes to planning methods, scheduling practices, and operational procedures. Prepare summaries and recommendations for CES leadership to support decision-making. Use data to improve program quality and resource utilization.</p> <p>Operations & Data Support</p> <p>Partner with communications staff to align event planning with promotional strategy and institutional messaging. Establish timelines for event promotion and ensure coordination between planning, marketing, and execution. Advise on priorities and sequencing of communications related to CES programs and activities.</p> <p>Administrative and Operational Support Leadership</p> <p>Provide operational leadership and contribute to execution of shared CES administrative functions during peak academic periods. Determine priorities, assign workflow responsibilities as appropriate, and ensure completion of key operational tasks related to scheduling, curriculum updates, and student support activities.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required </li><li>3-5 years of professional experience in event management, operations, academic administration, and/or program management </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage programs, projects, or operations with minimal supervision </li><li>Experience developing administrative processes, procedures, or operational plans </li><li>Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills </li><li>Ability to exercise independent judgment and make recommendations on operational matters </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and administrative or event management systems </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Relevant experience working in higher education or academic environments </li><li>Experience managing complex events or multi-department operations </li><li>Experience supervising projects, student staff, or program workflows </li><li>Familiarity with Acalog / Modern Campus or similar academic operations systems </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Expected Hiring Range: $54,800 to $60,250</p> <p>Pay Transparency Disclosure:</p> <p>The compensation for this position will be determined based on factors that include available budget, internal equity, and the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials.
