The ideal candidate will have a passion for mathematics and the ability to inspire young minds to engage with and excel in mathematical concepts.</p> <p>Required Certifications</p> <p>Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate #029 Preferred (or #229)</p> <p>Essential Qualification and Skills</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred) </li><li>Valid teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for teaching middle school mathematics </li><li>Strong knowledge of math curriculum and standards for 6th grade </li><li>Experience in differentiated instruction and small group interventions </li><li>Proficiency in data analysis and using data to inform instruction </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff members </li></ul> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of mathematics instruction </li><li>Proficiency in creating engaging and effective lesson plans </li><li>Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs </li><li>Excellent classroom management skills </li><li>Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Analyze multiple student data sets to identify specific prioritized standards for small groups of students in each classroom. </li><li>Develop robust and engaging lesson plans based on identified standards and student needs. </li><li>Provide differentiated Tier I instruction through small group interventions. </li><li>Reteach, reinforce, and pre-teach skills to support student learning. </li><li>Support the implementation of the iReady Classroom Mathematics Program. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction and interventions. </li><li>Monitor and assess student progress regularly. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and growth. </li><li>Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress, provide resources, and foster a supportive home learning environment. </li><li>Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences and workshops to discuss student achievements and strategies for improvement. </li><li>Cultivate strong relationships with students to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes trust, respect, and open communication. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <ul> <li>Reports to the Interim Director of Curriculum and Instruction for General and Special Education and Building Administrator </li><li>Work hours and compensation commensurate with the working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>Monday - Friday, 7:40am-2:50pm</p> <p>All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860)945-4813.</p> <ul> <li>District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date. </li></ul>
