Serves as the first assist to the physicians in the operating room to include joint reconstruction, sports medicine and general/trauma orthopedic surgery. Assists podiatrist in surgery and works in podiatry clinic with post op care regimen. Handles weekend and trauma calls with orthopedic surgeons.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>HS Diploma: High School Diploma or General Education (GED) </li></ul> <p>CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE</p> <ul> <li> <p>BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider</p> </li><li> <p>ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician certification</p> </li><li> <p>OR Graduate of an orthopedic technician college</p> </li><li> <p>OR Military training as an orthopedic technician</p> </li></ul> <p>TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>2 years of recent relevant experience. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of basic surgical anatomy and physiology.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of what constitutes a medical emergency requiring a physician's attention.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of scope of practice of an orthopedic technician. Knowledge of application, removal, and adjustment of casts and splints. Knowledge of application of soft goods, both custom, and non-custom.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of all aspects of surgery assisting and instrumentation in orthopedic surgery cases.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.</p> </li><li> <p>Well-developed phone and customer service skills. Able to deal effectively with challenging customer service interactions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and business information.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to pay attention to detail and perform work accurately. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
