<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for regional coordination of Center System menu planning and provision of orientation, instruction, and communication of dietary and menu changes to Center System food service workers.</p> <p>This position will use computer software in the preparation of food estimates, etc.</p> <p>This position will direct the production of meals; train and supervise resident food service workers; plan meals and procure supplies; care for and clean kitchen equipment; maintain food inventory and maintain proper sanitation methods.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>This position is in pay schedule and range 03-14 with a starting pay of $25.85/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview.</p> <p>This employee in this position will need to be able to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. This may include weekends and holidays.</p> <p>This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to stand and move freely. This role will prepare food and inspect sanitation, which involves manipulating fine objects, operating appliances, and lifting freely up to 50 lbs. to perform necessary tasks, and may need to occasionally climb stairs. A full list is included with the position description.</p> <p>Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and resident workers. This position must also comply with the facility's health policies, including those regarding Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination.</p> <p>This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.</p> <p>This position will travel several times a month to other DOC worksites (usually in the same region). Most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.</p> <p>Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.</p> <p>The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.</p> <p>The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.</p> <p>For more in-depth information on employment with the State of Wisconsin, please see the State Employee Handbook.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have:</p> <ul> <li>Experience preparing meals and directing other workers in cooking and baking of foods, such as: meats, vegetables, breads, desserts, bag lunches and special occasion meals. </li><li>Experience producing large quantity meals and scheduling meal production to meet a scheduled meal time. </li><li>Experience maintaining inventory, including: food supplies, materials, and equipment, including ordering supplies or preparing requisitions. </li></ul> <p>In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have:</p> <ul> <li>Experience training or teaching others skills and tasks (such as: food preparation, cooking, baking, meat, cutting and processing). </li><li>Experience planning menus (including tasks such as: meeting nutritional requirements, using current food inventory to avoid waste, etc.) </li><li>Experience maintaining cleanliness, ensuring food safety, and monitoring compliance with sanitation standards. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Employees must obtain ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or equivalent) within six months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.</p> <p>Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and will be required to maintain a valid driver's license during employment.</p> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To apply, click on "Apply for Job" to start the application process.
