<p>Overview</p> <p>GFT is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join our Midwest Bridge Team in Kansas City, Omaha, Wichita, and St. Louis! The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project.</p> <p>In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>In this role, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic and growing Midwest Bridge Group, collaborating with talented professionals across Kansas City, Wichita, Omaha, and St. Louis. Our team is passionate about delivering technically excellent solutions to complex bridge and transportation challenges. We've built a reputation for quality and innovation, and we're seeking an experienced engineer who's eager to contribute to that legacy.</p> </li><li> <p>You'll have the opportunity to take the lead in delivering projects through all phases of development from technical design and project planning to quality control, client engagement, and team mentorship. Your work will involve performing and overseeing bridge design and analysis, managing scope and schedules, ensuring the integrity of technical deliverables, strengthening client relationships, and fostering growth both for yourself and those around you.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform structural bridge design and load rating for a variety of structures including prestressed concrete and steel girder bridges, retaining walls, and sign support structures, using current standards. Provide technical support during construction and field activities such as site assessments, inspections, and data collection to ensure design intent is carried through to implementation.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate and manage the planning and execution of design tasks across technical disciplines. Ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule, while maintaining proactive communication with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and review design calculations, plans, estimates, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the firm's Quality Management Plan. Perform or oversee quality control and quality assurance on deliverables.</p> </li><li> <p>Support proposal development, participate in client meetings, and contribute to marketing efforts. May lead technical presentations, negotiate scope or schedule changes, and maintain strong client relationships.</p> </li><li> <p>Mentor and support the development of junior engineers through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and regular collaboration. Stay current on industry standards, emerging technologies, and design practices through continuing education, professional society participation, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in engineering excellence and leadership.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>What you'll bring to our firm:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required </li><li>Professional Engineer (P.E.) license </li><li>8-15 years of progressive experience in structural design and/or project management for transportation-focused projects, with familiarity in Midwest DOT standards and/or Class I railroad requirements. </li><li>Strong command of structural engineering principles and industry standards for bridge and structural design. Experience with steel and prestressed concrete bridge systems is essential. </li><li>Proficient in MicroStation (including ORD/OBM), and structural analysis/design tools. Comfortable using Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and collaboration. </li><li>Physically capable of performing field work, including inspections and data collection in various environments. Holds a valid driver's license and adheres to safety protocols. </li><li>Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. Thrives in a team-oriented environment and actively engages with peers to share knowledge and foster collaboration. </li><li>Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver projects efficiently, with a strong understanding of the impacts of technical decisions on schedule, budget, and scope. </li><li>A problem solver focused on technical quality, continuous learning, and process improvement. Seeks multiple perspectives and values ongoing professional development for self and others. </li><li>Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members. </li><li>Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves. </li></ul> <p>What we prefer you bring:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree with a civil/structural focus is strongly preferred. </li><li>Strong relationships and experience working with Midwest DOT's and/or Class I railroads. </li><li>Experience with the design/build project delivery method </li><li>Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Specifications and/or AREMA. </li><li>Experience with bridge design software such as CSi Bridge, LARSA, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare BrR and BrD, and FB Multipier. </li><li>NHI 2-Week course - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridge. </li></ul> <p>Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>The salary range for this position is $96,000 - $145,000.
