<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION: Integrated Preschool Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Putnam Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Integrated Preschool Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where our youngest learners can thrive and build a strong foundation for future academic success.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and possess a deep understanding of child development. They will create engaging, play-based learning experiences that foster social-emotional growth, cognitive skills, language development, and physical coordination in a diverse classroom setting.</p> <p>MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and implement age-appropriate, hands-on, play-based lessons aligned with CT Early Learning Standards and district curriculum. </li><li>Classroom Environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom that promotes positive behavior and a love for learning. </li><li>Student Progress: Observe and assess student development, using data to inform instruction and meet individual needs. </li><li>Collaboration & Communication: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians and collaborate effectively with staff and support personnel. </li><li>IEP/504 Implementation: Implement and monitor IEPs/504 plans for students with special needs, ensuring tailored support and compliance. </li><li>Assessment: Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student learning and development. </li><li>Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood best practices. </li><li>Student Safety & Wellness: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students by adhering to school and district policies </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Certification: Valid CT Teaching License/Certificate with endorsement 113 (Early Childhood/Elementary Ed. N-3 and Special Ed. N-K) or 065 (Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K through Grade 12), or eligibility for certification. </li><li>Experience: Previous experience teaching in a Pre-Kindergarten or early childhood classroom preferred. </li><li>Knowledge: Strong understanding of early childhood development theories, developmentally appropriate practices, and play-based learning. </li><li>Skills: Excellent classroom management, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and meet all district employment requirements </li></ul> <p>RATE OF PAY: $56,198 - $100,761 per year (determined by contractual agreement)</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <p>EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit your application through our website: www.putnamschoolsct.org</p> <p>INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit a letter of interest and updated resume to Kaye Jakan, Principal; Patricia Bryant-Beausoleil, Director, Putnam Family Resource Center; and Rebecca Lopes, Director of Student Services</p> <p>APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: Open until filled</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
