The teacher fosters a love of music while building foundational skills in rhythm, melody, performance, and music appreciation through engaging, age-appropriate instruction.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</p> <p>Instructional Planning & Delivery</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS for Music (K4)</p> </li><li> <p>Teach foundational music concepts including:</p> </li><li> <p>Rhythm, beat, tempo, and dynamics</p> </li><li> <p>Singing and vocal development</p> </li><li> <p>Instrument exploration (e.g., percussion, classroom instruments)</p> </li><li> <p>Music literacy and notation basics</p> </li><li> <p>Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, including ESL and Special Education learners</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate cross-curricular connections (e.g., math patterns, literacy through song)</p> </li></ul> <p>Classroom Environment</p> <ul> <li>Establish a structured, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment </li><li>Manage student behavior in alignment with campus discipline policies </li><li>Maintain music equipment, instruments, and instructional materials </li></ul> <p>Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring</p> <ul> <li>Assess student learning through performance, participation, and informal/formal evaluations </li><li>Provide feedback to students and communicate progress with parents/guardians </li><li>Maintain accurate records in accordance with campus and district expectations </li></ul> <p>Program Development & Participation</p> <ul> <li>Plan and coordinate student performances (e.g., concerts, programs, assemblies) </li><li>Support school-wide events and initiatives </li><li>Collaborate with grade-level teachers and staff to enhance student learning </li></ul> <p>Compliance & Professional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all policies set forth by the district, campus, and the Texas Education Agency </li><li>Maintain professional ethics in alignment with the Texas Educators' Code of Ethics </li><li>Participate in professional development and staff meetings </li><li>Maintain certification requirements (if applicable) </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education & Certification</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university </li><li>Valid Texas teaching certification in Music (preferred) </li><li>Uncertified candidates may be considered in accordance with district policy </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred </li><li>Classroom teaching or student teaching experience in music education </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of elementary music pedagogy and child development </li><li>Ability to teach singing, rhythm, and basic instrumental skills </li><li>Strong classroom management and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to engage young learners through interactive instruction </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills </li></ul> <p>Performance Metrics (Aligned to Compensation & Evaluation Systems)</p> <ul> <li>Student engagement and participation in music instruction </li><li>Demonstrated mastery of TEKS-aligned objectives </li><li>Successful execution of student performances/events </li><li>Classroom management effectiveness </li><li>Timely completion of lesson plans, grades, and required documentation </li><li>Contribution to campus culture and collaboration </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Classroom and performance settings (cafeteria, auditorium, gym) </li><li>May require standing, singing, and active movement throughout the day </li><li>Occasional after-school events (concerts, programs) </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>Based on district-approved salary schedule (certified or uncertified scale as applicable) </li></ul>
