<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Career & Technical Instructor - HVAC (part-time)</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Economic & Business Development</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Business Solutions & Partnerships</p> <p>LOCATION: New Bedford, Fall River, Attleboro, Taunton MA</p> <p>POSITION STATUS: This is a part-time, non-unit professional position without benefits, not to exceed 18.5 hours per week.</p> <p>SALARY: $65/hr</p> <p>STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>The Economic and Business Development department is seeking qualified instructors to teach in the trades sectors, including but not limited to, HVAC/R Heat Pump training, Welding Training, Crane Training and Heavy Machine Operator Training. The trainings fall under non-credit, workforce trainings at the college.</p> <p>The Trades Instructors will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that supports both hands-on competencies and theoretical knowledge, ensuring students are fully prepared for entry-level positions in the trades field.</p> <p>This position is part of our response to growing employer demand in the trades sector. Instructors must be able to commit to day, evening, and/or weekend shifts, based on mutual scheduling availability. Clear and consistent communication regarding availability is required to ensure instructional continuity and student support.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate effectively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment, working with students from various cultural backgrounds, learning styles, identities, and life experiences. </li><li>Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and uphold professionalism, consistently applying college policies related to student conduct and performance. </li><li>Deliver curriculum using a variety of engaging and effective teaching methods to promote learning, develop skills, and help students achieve their educational and career goals. </li><li>Integrate technology and active learning strategies into instruction to enhance student engagement and comprehension. </li><li>Prepare for and deliver instruction in both classroom and practical settings, including the evaluation of student performance throughout the program. </li><li>Maintain accurate and organized records of student attendance, assessments, progress, and final evaluations. </li><li>Administer diagnostic tests, quizzes, and assignments to assess and track student learning outcomes. </li><li>Supervise and evaluate students in hands on settings to ensure they meet course objectives as they align with the industry credential. </li><li>Utilize online learning platforms and digital resources confidently as part of the instructional process. </li><li>Build and maintain positive relationships with community and companies to support student learning and program success. </li><li>Collaborate with the Director and Program Manager to maintain and organize documentation required by the Trade organization and requirements of the program. </li><li>Collaborate regularly with the Director and instructional team, and attend meetings as required. </li><li>Assist in counseling and advising students, emphasizing progress and retention, and communicate regularly with the Director regarding student development. </li><li>Ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices. </li><li>Guide and mentor students in accessing college support services when needed. </li><li>Ensure all classrooms, labs, and practical site environments are safe and healthy. </li><li>Support the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by implementing equity-minded practices across all job responsibilities. </li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment that promotes professional development and a commitment to service excellence. </li><li>Providing engaging instruction aligned with program learning outcomes </li><li>Conducting hands-on trainings in a fully equipped facility </li><li>Supporting students' development of technical and professional skills </li><li>Assessing student performance and providing feedback for improvement </li><li>Developing lesson plans aligned with industry standards </li><li>Staying current with field technologies and best practices </li><li>Collaborating with other instructors and program leadership to enhance curriculum and student success </li><li>Preparing students for certification exams and successful careers </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.</p> <ul> <li>Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to heating-ventilation-air conditioning-refrigeration. </li><li>Must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Must have excellent communication, organizational skills, and leadership skills. </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in instruction, peer training, or on-the-job mentoring in a trade environment. </li><li>Must have a current First Aid/CPR and AED certifications from the American Red Cross of the American Heart Association and OSHA 10/30. </li><li>Proficiency with technology and digital tools for instruction, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), Zoom, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet.[MB1] </li><li>Experience with classroom or team management in educational or practical/clinical settings. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. </li><li>Successful completion of a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check is required as a condition of employment.[MB2] [JA3] </li><li>Reliable transportation to travel to and from clinical sites, meetings, trainings, and campus or community locations, as needed. </li><li>Availability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required by the program. </li><li>All positions require appropriate training and/or experience, valid licensure (when applicable), and the ability to work effectively within a diverse academic and professional community. </li></ul> <p>HVAC REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>An associate's degree may substitute for one of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning-Refrigeration*, and/or in vocational education. </li><li>A bachelor's degree may substitute for two of five years of required employment experience, provided that the degree includes subject matter related to the Technical Knowledge and Skills strand (Strand 2) of the Vocational Technical Education Framework in Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning-Refrigeration*, and/or in vocational education. </li><li>Hold a Master HVAC license or its equivalent, possess an EPA Section 608 Universal CFC Certification and have extensive practical experience through formal apprenticeship. </li><li>3 years work experience in the HVAC field as a licensed HVAC technician
