<p>Job Goal: Next Wave Jr. High and Full Circle High are continuing a summer program for students at risk of dropping out of school. The summer program will provide a positive and fun learning environment which will address student academic needs as well as their social emotional needs addressed in their IEP's. These opportunities will greatly expand students' exposure to the educational, cultural and clinical support services offered at NW/FC during the academic year.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with the therapeutic model of Next Wave/Full Circle </li><li>DESE School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor License and LISW </li><li>Experience with middle and/or high school curriculum, instruction and assessment practices and Knowledge of Project Based Learning </li><li>Experience with the IEP process </li><li>A strong ability to build community and provide support </li><li>Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students </li><li>Strong organizational and effective communication skills </li><li>Experience working with a team to develop curriculum and extracurricular activities </li><li>Demonstrate competence in a range of therapeutic modalities including individual, group and family therapies </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide crisis counseling to all students when social, emotional, environmental or physical conditions interferes with the learning process or their adjustment to school </li><li>Provide individual and group counseling </li><li>Supervise students at all levels of classroom exclusion and facilitate the consequence - process - return to classroom routine. </li><li>Implement crisis intervention and prevention techniques </li><li>Coordinate behavior management strategies and implement social/emotional curriculum </li><li>Coordinate positive reinforcement efforts in conjunction with other staff </li><li>Help plan and supervise school activities </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <p>Seasonal/Yearly Appointment</p> <p>Summer Program Schedule: August 4, 2025 - August 15, 2025</p> <p>Rate: $40 per hour</p> <p>Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM</p> <p>Friday 8:00 am-12:00 pm</p> <p>Position Reports to: Director of the 2025 Next Wave/Full Circle Summer Program</p> <p>The Somerville Public School does not discriminate in its programs, facilities or employment of educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, religion, disability, pregnancy, home status, marital/civil union status, sex/gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, citizenship status, place of birth, national origin, ancestry, cultural identity, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' group or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p>
