<p>The Downtown Boise YMCA is seeking a qualified Senior Head Guard to join the team. This position ensures safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck and surrounding areas of the aquatic's facility. Senior Head Guards must additionally comply with all of the roles and responsibilities of Head Lifeguards.</p> <p>The Downtown Family YMCA opened its doors in 1964 and has since been a landmark in the Downtown Boise area. The facility has a full court basketball gym, a large cardio fitness center, multiple strength training systems and rooms, racquetball courts, a climbing wall, five fitness studios, three swimming pools, and multiple youth programming areas.</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>This is a full-time position, with benefits, averaging 35-40 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are flexible and include 15-20 hours a week lifeguarding and 15-20 hours a week for administrative work. Starting Pay: $15.90-$19.88/hr.</p> <ul> <li>Additional $2.50 per hour May 7th - September 6th! </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Create a safe environment for members and participants through active deck scanning, being on time and ready </li></ul> <p>to respond quickly and appropriately while role modeling safe behavior.</p> <ul> <li>Designated First Responder. </li><li>Engage members and participants in effective, age-appropriate communication using the Y voice attributes. The </li></ul> <p>down guard will actively engage with and encourage members during swim tests and lessons.</p> <ul> <li>Develop intentional relationships and engage members in a way to help them meet the seven Cause Measurement </li></ul> <p>goals.</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to Aquatics Leading Practice Manual. </li><li>Using the Y voice attributes provide appropriate feedback to participants and members as needed. </li><li>Build relationships with members, participants and volunteers. </li><li>Promote teamwork and cooperative effort. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Age - Must be 18 years of age or older upon hire. </li><li>Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green). </li><li>Ability to pass all standard safety drills with an 80% passing average. </li><li>Ability to coach and give feedback in a constructive manner. </li><li>Basic computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Demonstrated skills in planning, time management, flexibility, organization and independent work proficiency. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>First Aid - Prerequisite upon hire. </li><li>Oxygen- Prerequisite upon hire. </li><li>Basic Life Support- Prerequisite upon hire. </li><li>Y Lifeguard- Prerequisite upon hire. </li><li>Y Lifeguard Instructor- Prerequisite upon hire, 90-day compliance period. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>The Treasure Valley Family YMCA provides a progressive work environment with great benefits for qualifying full-time employees.</p> <p>Benefits include:</p> <ul> <li>12% employer-funded retirement plan after two years of service with immediate vesting and ability to make additional contributions to retirement benefits through 403(b) savings plan. </li><li>High quality and affordable benefits including health (75% employer paid for family) and dental insurance (50% employer-paid for family). </li><li>Free use of YMCA facilities for immediate family. </li><li>Generous paid-time off package, earning at the rate of 24 paid days off per year to start. </li></ul> <p>Welcoming and Inclusion:</p> <p>At the Y, we welcome everyone whose behavior adheres to our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
