We are proud of our culturally diverse community and work in partnership with families to close opportunity gaps and support every child's success.</p> <p>The Opportunity:</p> <p>Fletcher Maynard Academy is seeking an innovative and collaborative Grade 2 Teacher who comfortably fosters a safe and positive classroom environment with high student engagement, ambitious goals, and joyful learning. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who has a strong conceptual understanding of literacy, mathematics, social studies, and science instruction at the elementary level, a commitment to social justice, and a passion for inspiring students through authentic hands-on learning. In SY 24-25, we implemented CKLA Amplify for literacy instruction. We strive to ground our math pedagogy in an equity-driven, inquiry-based approach inspired, in part, by The Impact of Identity in K-8 Mathematics: Rethinking Equity-Based Practices (2013, Aguirre, Mayfield-Ingram, & Martin). We are currently using Illustrative Math to teach the MA State Math Standards.</p> <p>We are eager to identify an individual who collaborates effectively, possesses a growth mindset, and can balance both the responsibility and the joy of working in a PreK-5 school. The Fletcher Maynard Academy supports teachers' professional growth through an instructional coaching model. Our Grade 2 Teacher will work under the general supervision of the Principal and Assistant Principal and will be evaluated following the professional standards articulated in the Massachusetts Teacher Rubric.</p> <p>Your Skill Set:</p> <p>The ideal candidate will possess most/all of the following characteristics and qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience leading instruction in an urban school setting. </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in fostering a positive and supportive classroom environment, where students are encouraged to develop intellectual curiosity. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body. </li><li>Ability to plan interdisciplinary units of study and project-based learning opportunities </li><li>Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college. </li><li>Required Elementary (Grades 1-6) or Early Childhood (Grades PreK-2) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education </li><li>A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel. </li></ul> <p>How to Join Our Team:</p> <p>Apply online at www.cpsd.us.
