<p>Under the direction of the chief nursing officer, plans, organizes, directs, and supervises hospital-wide education services and programs. Ensures service development, personnel management, resource allocation and control. Assumes direction of participation in special projects as needed. Provides consultation to the clinical management regarding all aspects of nursing practice as defined by the Division of Nursing, and internal and external regulatory standards. Acts as liaison for academic partnerships. Performs ongoing evaluation of practice and identifies opportunities for improvement across the department of inpatient nursing.</p> <p>Education/Training:</p> <ul> <li>MA/MS in education required </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Current MA RN licensure </li><li>ACLS </li><li>BLS </li></ul> <p>Preferred Licenses/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Certification in education, leadership, or related specialty </li><li>ACLS Instructor </li><li>BLS Instructor </li><li></li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare, education and professional development. </li><li>Minimum 2+ years of experience in healthcare leadership; focus on professional development </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated leadership abilities. </li><li>Demonstrated teaching skills, leadership skills, and skills in critical thinking and reading. </li><li>Knowledge of human resource management, program development, fiscal management skills, and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards. </li><li>Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of individuals. </li><li>Ability to objectively appraise and analyze information and situations. </li><li>Ability to identify needed changes in process or direction. </li><li>Ability to make informed, sound decisions, and develops innovative, but practical, solutions. </li><li>Skills related to management, planning, and budgeting. </li><li>Nursing excellence journey coordination and oversight </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>· Identifies and designs programs that facilitate organizational development. </li><li>· Develops, coordinates and implements activities to achieve educational objectives. </li><li>· Conducts reviews and evaluates educational needs assessments. </li><li>· Responsible for the operational excellence of the department to ensure the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. </li><li>· Responsible for the development and oversight of a centralized orientation program offered to all RN's, to include a dedicated graduate residency program to support the transition of new graduates throughout the entire first year. </li><li>· Develop, design, and implement unit-based education and competency programs. Evaluate and monitor programs as needed to ensure continued quality standards are met. </li><li>· Ensure systems infrastructure is in place to accurately monitor, track and report on all educational and competency data. </li><li>· Actively participates in and supports shared governance and ANCC nursing excellence journey. </li><li>· Function as clinical expert for nursing grand rounds and professional practice council. </li><li>· Responsible for developing and fostering academic partnerships conducting interagency meetings prior to each academic year. </li><li>· Review all contracts for accuracy and relevancy. </li><li>· Develops and maintains a centralized process to oversee all clinical educational activities to ensure that quality services are provided in an efficient and effective manner. </li><li>· Responsible for developing a management plan for annual education for nursing to include curriculum for latest programs, orientation and contact hour programs. </li><li>· Assist in the planning and teaching of ACLS and BLS </li><li>· Supports department and hospital-wide research activities </li><li>· Actively participate in nursing and hospital committees providing perspective and guidance on educational activities as needed. </li><li>· Participates in the recruitment and retention of hospital staff. </li><li>· Oversee nurse educators and associated staff. </li><li>· Coordinates with Human Resources to design, create, and maintain all certification, training and competency activities within the learning management system. </li><li>· Coordinates with Human Resources to facilitate and maintain required documentation for new employee orientation and other mandatory education, ensuring subjects required by DNV and other regulatory agencies are covered appropriately. </li></ul> <p>Other duties:</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
