<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Middle School Stipend/Team Leader</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/11/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Briarcliff Middle School</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Special Education Team Leader Job Description: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades</p> <p>Purpose:</p> <p>The job of the Special Education Team Leader was established for the purpose(s) of serving as a liaison between the Department of Special Education (PPS) and the instructional staff in the elementary, middle, and high school; promoting equal access to the district's curriculum and instructional programs at the building level; and collaborating with the principal and other teachers on the building leadership team.</p> <p>This is a stipend position as defined in the Professional Agreement between the Board of Education and the Briarcliff Manor Teachers' Association. The position is a one-year term, and candidates will be able to apply or reapply at the end of each year.</p> <p>Reports to: Assistant to the Director of PPS and the Building Assistant Principal and Principal.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Currently employed as a K-12 special education, speech, OT, psychologist teacher in the district (active status) </li><li>Successful teaching experience in an elementary, middle, and high school within the district </li><li>The candidate demonstrates </li><li>a high level of commitment to and enthusiasm for the district's vision; </li><li>leadership skills and the ability to work closely and cooperatively with fellow team members, other building staff members, building administrators and the PPS department; </li><li>a strong insight and understanding of the needs of elementary, middle and or high school aged students; </li><li>the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups; </li><li>the ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with diverse groups (i.e. staff, parents, and community members).? </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Be a positive role model, learner, and leader. </li><li>Be an effective communicator and collaborator with other teachers, school leaders, parents, and students. </li><li>Liaison for all special education student issues. This includes advocating for students' learning needs, developing the family-school partnership, and overseeing any overarching concerns that impact a child's success. This includes working closely with the Grade Level Team Leaders and the Clinical Team. </li><li>Guide the special education department in a goal setting process, which includes co-teacher initiatives, vertical planning of curriculum, and social-emotional initiatives. </li><li>Work closely with the Assistant Principal and School Counselor during the RTI process for all students. Analyze data and trends to identify clear entry and exit criteria for all AIS classes. </li><li>Work with building leadership to schedule standardized assessments, specifically oversee student testing accommodations. </li><li>Work closely with the Grade Team Leaders and Clinical Team to lead articulation conversations in the Spring and communicate student needs with teacher teams in the Fall. This may include communicating changes to a child's academic plan during the year. </li><li>Actively participate in weekly planning and professional learning with other grade-level leaders and building leadership to discuss schoolwide needs and concerns. In addition, meet with the building leadership once per month to discuss grade specific needs. </li><li>Assume other responsibilities as determined by the administration. </li><li>As a stipend position, work may need to be completed outside of the contractual hours. </li></ul>
