"Orlando Health Is Your Best Place to Work" is not just something we say, it's our promise to you Position Summary Orlando Health Cancer Institute has a full-time speech-language pathologist (SLP) position open in the Oncology Speech Pathology Department in both the acute care and outpatient setting. This department works closely in a multidisciplinary fashion with our team of surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, maxillofacial prosthodontist, dietitians, occupational and physical therapists, and nurse navigators to provide comprehensive cancer care. Experience with the management of complex dysphagia and head & neck cancer is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience with VFSS, FEES, and TEP management. Strong CF candidates will be considered. <em>Hospital experience preferred</em> <em>Located downtown for the Acute Care for the Oncology population</em> <em>Preferred one to two years of experience</em> Responsibilities Essential Functions • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family and significant other persons and data sources. • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload. • Demonstrates the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures. • Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose. • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team. • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy. • Ensures accurate billing. • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection control, as required. • Demonstrates an awareness of legal issues, patient right and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any patient care meetings that are required for the assignment. • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment. Instructs support personnel in their duties as necessary. Qualifications Education/Training Master's degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program. Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) may apply.
