<p>Business Ed. Teacher</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Business Education Teacher</p> <p>GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Term of Employment: Contractual Year</p> <p>BASIC FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>This position requires a certified teacher for the purpose of teaching skills needed for success in the world of work and business management, marketing, financial services, and entrepreneurship to students at the intermediate and/or high school level.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Possess all requirements for teaching business education </li><li>Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes </li><li>Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students' learning styles and needs </li><li>Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Business Management, Marketing, Financial Services, and Entrepreneurship </li><li>Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families </li><li>Provide appropriate instruction for students to earn dual credits with post-secondary institutions when appropriate </li><li>Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills </li><li>Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving </li><li>Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student population </li><li>Integrate common core standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum </li><li>Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development </li><li>Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs </li><li>Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources </li><li>Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment </li><li>Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION:</p> <p>Minimum qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must hold a valid Indiana Business Education license or a CTE: Business </li><li>Knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office Professional Software and other current technologies used in business education </li></ul> <p>Working Relationships:</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Mental demands: (the following are examples) calculating, comparing, problem-solving, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting. </li><li>Physical Demands: (the following are examples) sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, adjusting, connecting; lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 40 lbs.; bending, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, balancing, writing, walking, and operating equipment. </li><li>Environmental Conditions: (the following are examples) mostly inside but can be exposed to extreme weather conditions if traveling, wet and/or slippery surfaces, exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, biological exposure, exposure to communicable diseases, working around moving objects, and working alone </li><li>Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive to meetings or work sites before, during, or after the normal working day. </li></ul>
