<p>Overall Job Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns. This position is also responsible for responding to questions and special requests from employees and regulatory agencies as well as researching laws and regulations regarding tax and proper payroll withholding procedures.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)</p> <ul> <li>Update employee profiles for missing or incorrect tax codes and make necessary adjustments to correct tax withholding. </li><li>Prepare payroll tax returns not handled by Automatic Data Processing. </li><li>Maintain the tax codes and related tables within Tractor Supply Company (TSC) intranet and provide appropriate documentation for new tax code set up when required. </li><li>Register new locations for tax withholding, obtain new account numbers, and maintain related location tax files. </li><li>Prepare W-2C's for employees and enter all necessary adjustments for creation of amended returns. </li><li>Respond and address notices from taxing jurisdictions in coordination with various TSC departments. </li><li>Answer tax related questions from team members. </li><li>Assist with payroll tax audits </li><li>Review the Statement of Deposits and/or payroll tax returns for TSC on a quarterly basis. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in a payroll department or payroll tax department. Experience with Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) payroll services and tax required.</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</p> <p>Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.</p> <p>Professional Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.</p> <p>Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem solving skills. </li><li>Proficiency using Microsoft Word. </li><li>Knowledge of payroll practices and applicable laws. </li><li>Basic knowledge of accounting practices. </li><li>Ability to display a customer-oriented approach to work, especially in regards to data entry and integrity </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Normal office working conditions </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Sitting </li><li>Standing (not walking) </li><li>Walking </li><li>Lifting up to 10 pounds </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>This job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above referenced position.
