If you want to use your skills to build a healthier, more resilient community, we encourage you to apply.</p> <p>This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, Medical Services, 2715 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC, 29203, CAMHC #068.</p> <p>As the Nurse Practitioner, working under general supervision and within the scope of practice defined under the terms of collaborative agreement and its designated collaborative physician you will provide clinical services and advanced nursing practice in a comprehensive community mental health center. Provide psychotropic medications according to written protocols, and monitors medication for compliance and potential side effects. Interview, examine, diagnose and treat mental disorders of patients through both initial diagnostic evaluations, if allowed by current privileges and supporting credentials, and/or ongoing management of established patients initially evaluated by a physician.</p> <p>Responsibilities for this Nurse Practitioner:</p> <ul> <li>Within one or more assigned locations, provide clinical services within the scope allowed by the collaborative agreement to include both initial evaluation of new patients, when allowed by privileges, and ongoing management of established adult patients utilizing the latest evidenced-based treatment modalities and pharmacotherapy options as indicated. </li><li>Collect, organize, and record data and information in each patient's medical record according to quality assurance standards, CARF guidelines and corporate compliance standards. </li><li>Regularly attend and participate in treatment team meetings and staffing's with collaborative/supervising physician. </li><li>Provide appropriate consultation to courts and other agencies consistent with program priorities and as allowed by the collaborative agreement, laws governing, scope of practice, and center privileges. </li><li>Attend Medical Staff meetings as scheduled. </li><li>Comply with the Office of Mental Health Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. </li><li>A master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a registered nurse with official recognition as a Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing, practicing in the extended role with prescriptive authority in the State of South Carolina; related nursing experience. </li><li>Prescribes psychotropic medications according to written protocols, and monitors medication for compliance and potential side effects. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Post hire, employees must:</p> <ul> <li>Be able to work closely with the medical and nursing staff of the unit. </li><li>Be active in clinical staffing to develop intervention plans. </li><li>Provide backup and consultation to Unit's Intake Nurse as indicated. </li><li>Have the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and guidance. </li><li>Have certification as a Nurse Practitioner through national, professional associations or ANA. </li><li>Have ability to establish and maintain relationships with patients/families and other professionals. </li></ul> <p>The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions including, but not limited, to lactation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.</p> <p>Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
