<p>Job Description:</p> <ul> <li>Help with the day-to-day operations of supporting students in the building by positively interacting with them </li><li>Collaborate with school administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, restorative justice staff and others. </li><li>Help implement clear policies and protocols of the day to day school schedule </li><li>Communicate with and maintain positive relationships with students, parents/guardians </li><li>Form caring relationships and model respectful communication and unconditional positive regard for students and families. </li><li>Utilize behavior management techniques respectfully and appropriately. </li><li>Provide occasional restorative classroom interventions when necessary. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree or higher; OR Completing at least two years, or 48 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education; OR taking and passing a formal assessment measuring one's knowledge of and ability to assist classroom teachers in reading, writing, and mathematics. (Parapro Assessment and workKeys) </li><li>Training or experience working with Special Needs Students preferred </li><li>Experience working in an urban setting preferred </li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations preferred Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills </li><li>Outstanding relationship skills are the most essential quality for BST Assistants. Ability to build trusting relationships with teenagers. </li><li>Ability to remain calm while working with students who are angry or distraught is essential. Able to establish a supportive relationship while also maintaining high expectations for student behavior is essential. </li><li>The belief that all students can succeed is essential, and the ability to help students believe in their own greatness is a great skill for this position. </li><li>Great listener; understand the teenage mind; be accepting of people from all backgrounds and mindsets, and be compassionate yet firm. </li><li>Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred) </li></ul>
